View Full Version : Where has everyone gone?

Hi all,
The group (or my ISPs mirror) doesn't seem to be getting much activity. Got
eight or so inches of snow last night and today so I'm pretty much stuck
around the computer.
Hope everyone is staying nice and sane...

Nice? Sane?
Does anyone watch the Red/Green show on PBS? The 'Man's Prayer' at the
end always cracks me up. 'I'm a man ... and I can change ... if I have
to ... I guess.'

Hi Kirk ... no snow here as of yet, but we are expected to get a storm
tomorrow. yucky-poo. Can't really complain much, however, because i leave for
the Carribean bright and super early Sunday morning - yippie!
I haven't packed, and I'm working 12 hours tomorrow, 10 on Saturday, then I
have my meeting Sat. night ... hmm... I probably should have thought about this
before now, eh? LOL Oh well, it will get done. no worries.
Besides that, all is well ... everyone might be happy to hear that God has done
a wonderful job removing any obsession of alcohol from me. No cravings, no
missing the "good old days", I go hours without even thinking about it - HA!
Now it's time to really put my mind to work and start to recover ... the
emotional stuff (and yes, I mean stuff ... more like crap) is a doosey. Last
week I was numb. Numbed from my weekend binge ... this week as been full of
tears, screams, break downs left and right. Thanks to what I've learned,
however, I am better able to pinpoint the cause of all of them - the *true*
cause, that is. I've done a lot of praying ... a lot of praying. I a lot of
praying, and a bit of meditation.
And blah blah blah ... I'm procrastinating. I should go to bed. LOL
All the best to everyone,
-Christine

Wow, you sound SO much better this week than last week Christine! What a
difference just a little sober time can make. My cravings have gone away
too, subject to change without notice of course. I don't know about you,
but airports were a major excuse for me to drink at all hours -there's
always drinkers in the morning at airport bars, and for some reason it's not
considered unusual. Next time I'm in one I'll have a good book or two to
keep me out of the bar. And vacations sure do invite celebrating... so be
careful... -Fred

Yeah, me too! We are all more alike than different! Terminal uniqueness is
dangerous...
Typical victim mentality. Leads to feelings of low self-esteem and we all
know where that leads... I'm worthless, nobody cares, what difference does
it make anyway. Poor me, poor me, hey bartender! Pour me another one!
The resentment thread really helped me realize how I victimize myself and
never really looked at how I participated in the things that left me angry
because "I was taken advantage of".
Not playing the victim is part of my return to sanity.

If it's that important to you, and there is no meeting. guess all you
need to do is ask a co-coordinator for a space, and a coffee pot, and
put a notice on the board, or whatever. Then, there *will* be a
meeting, every morning, noon, and night, if you want.

usually, on a cruise, there ARE meetings, and they are listed under:
FRIENDS OF BILL W.
you can request that you be given a daily place to have one, and
request that the notice be posted.
they will accommodate you!

I like this bit on the second link:

Well Jim, if your own comment wasn't smart-assed, arrogant, and
lacking in something good to say, I'm probably not clear on the
definition of the terms.
Robert does have good things to say. But, like with anybody else, one
needs to "take what you need and leave the rest" in order to find it.
Meanwhile, if you really can't stomach a particular personality, I
would suggest prudent use of a killfile.

Hey, watch yourself there fortunate son. Don't you know Bob is the gold
standard of recovery? He'll learn you good and proper, just you see.
Don't worry yourself too much about Bob's vicissitude. He gets his
panties in a bunch sometimes, and it gives him gas. Sometimes the butt

little reflux, though, and he seems to feel much better.
