Daily Reflections
"LET'S KEEP IT SIMPLE"
A few hours later I took my leave of Dr. Bob. . . The
wonderful, old, broad smile was on his face as he said
almost jokingly, "Remember, Bill, let's not louse this
thing up. Let's keep it simple!" I turned away, unable
to say a word. That was the last time I ever saw him.
ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS COMES OF AGE, p 214
After years of sobriety I occasionally ask myself: "Can
it be this simple?" Then, at meetings, I see former
cynics and skeptics who have walked the A.A. path out
of hell by packaging their lives, without alcohol, into
twenty-four hour segments, during which they practice a
few principles to the best of their individual
abilities. And then I know again that, while it isn't
always easy, if I keep it simple, it works.

Tom may not have a clue precisely what those principles actually are, but
Tex knows the "real" deal; and anyone else can fuck off!

Well Tex is a real alcoholic and Tom only thought he was. There is a
difference between saying Fuck'em and telling them to fuck off. One's
kind of a personal state of mind and the other is a rather anti-social
behavior and supposedly one can lead to drinking and the other sorta
sets one up to live a nice if not rewarding lifestyle.
On the other hand it's a handy opportunity to grab a partial statement
and too twist it to suit one's own needs at the present moment...joy
is sometimes shameful, but, still joy all the same.

Yep, if Tex had merely thought, "fuck'em" instead of resorting to Tom's
type, it could hardly be seen as anti social activity.
Shameless Bob;-)

Well there ain't an I in Tex or Tom. Hey, there ain't an I in Bob
either. On the other there doesn't appear to be a WE in either...I
figure Tom is already scheduled to burn and Tex was concerned about
the Stinkin' Thinkin' clause.

I think that Tex, (AKA Tom?) and I, think very much along the same lines,
excepting for when we don't.
Robert (AKA El Torero!) was relating to the "real" alcoholic clause.

Funny thing, the real alkie clause, causes some to think weird
thoughts. I relate to it along the lines of: Tom, you are a real fuck
up! OR Tom, you are a fuck up. Either way I'm a fuck up....being an
alcoholic it is simple to be at peace with sobriety....to be a real
alcoholic requires one to attain the elusive real sobriety...the kind
where you don't say let alone fuck, smoke cigarettes, eat tasty foods,
cheat on your taxes, play craps, etc. do the steps the right way on &
on. No, I'll settle for sobriety which seems to be simpler to maintain
and leaves more room to live life. (Which is the purpose far as I can
figure.)

The "real alcoholics" I know don't give a shit about the "real sobriety"
elitist notions of pseudo alcoholics. Probly a geographical thing.
Anyway I think that regardless of Santa Clause, or any other Clause, people
think weird thoughts! Especially when people don't think;-)
Bob the people.

Now, Now, I'm not against weird thoughts. I have too many to be
against them. They let me think I run the space between my ears but at
any moment they can overpower me and take control of the joint.
I cut the part about real alcoholics...but...changed my mind a tad.
Now if we are talking about real alcoholics that are real alcoholics,
well, (at least the one's I know) are plenty satisfied with merely
being Alcoholics and sobriety (freedom from drink) and chuckle a tad
when someone has to pound the table and rant about being a 'real'
alcoholic.
I always liked what one old wrinkled bastard said once when he said.,"
You can finger fuck yourself silly messing around trying to get beyond
sobriety or you can pick up this here gift of sobriety and get on with
the business of living."

Keep AA out of the picture? Can't be much simpler than that. Hey less
