hahahahaha, Rosie. The irony of you very own public disputation regarding AA
is amazing.

there have been MANY documented cases of suicide, due to the poor advice
offered by alcoholics around our AA tables.

because of this, i was asked by NEW YORK to speak on the subject at our
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE in san diego.
(i don't say this to brag, but rather to inform you, that GENERAL SERVICE is
quite concerned about alcoholics giving
this advice to ANYONE)

Nah, just me. Unlike you, recruiting new AA members with your smarm,
regardless of whether or not they are alcoholic (before you lot convince
them they are, and they get drunk, repeatedly in order to identify with your
madness) I don't crave cohorts.

Not sure what Robert's point is, but as a lurker who is drunk(now) and
semi-conscious of his status. I find all of this arguing about AA, as well
as daily quotes from the 12 step program a bit disheartning.

First, I can't appreciate a good quote until "I've seen the light" Second,
theres nothing like being lost in a fog and hearing those who have made it
out eating organges dry aned out of the rain arguing about the best way
out.....

Maybe I'm in the wrong place, Is this group for those sober??

Depends on who you talk to, I guess.

Do you want to get sober and stay that way? Or are you just looking for
temporary relief or to moderate your drinking? Do you want to find out what
it takes and follow some simple suggestions? Or do you want to keep doing
what you have been doing and hoping for different results?

What's your goal?

I said believe, as distinct from allege. Seems to me discussion, in this
instance, is pointless, without first agreeing on a common definition of
what is, and what is not, an alcoholic. Far as I know, other than arguable
theories, there is no scientific definition, at all.

IMO, it is for those who want to be.

You know that some people are different.
Now ain't that a crying shame.
Wouldn't it be a real drag, if we were all the same.

I'm not talking to anyone, not because I think I'm fine, it's too
embarrassing. My goal is quite simply to feel whole again..

If you're an alcoholic still drinking, I'm sure you would. The AA
program contradicts a drinking alcoholic's thinking. That's why it
works, but that's also why so few are willing to work it.

However, much of the daily God stuff posted here should not be
confused with the AA program itself.

>Maybe I'm in the wrong place, Is this group for those sober??

This group is a usenet newsgroup, therefore has many different people.
Not all will be alcoholic. Of those who are, not all will be sober.

to me GOOD RECOVERY is the ability to feel whole, "happy, joyous and free!"

Oh. Well, mindreading and telepathic diagnosis are the baliwick of our
Milwaukee division.

Your posting shows an Atlanta news server location. If you are in ATL or
nearby and want to try out an AA meeting, I'd be happy to meet you at one
that is mutually convenient.
