lez,
i am a wisconsin licensed alcohol and drug counselor.
i have a private practice and take care of folks who have "gone through the
system", run out of insurance, most have
been through treatment, at least once, a lot of them suffer with
depression, and most have relapsed over and over.
i DO NOT prescribe, i leave that to qualified doctors.
i DO NOT sponsor them, i make sure they find one though.
etc etc etc

The above 3 "googled" posts are representative of lots more of her
allegations of her educational and professional superiority over the common
garden variety drunk.
I got to wondering just what these alleged credentials actually encompassed
and what Rosie was actually legally entitled to do in WI. Big surprise!
According to the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing:
BARRETT , ROSEMARY D.
Address:
HARTLAND, WI 53029
Credential Number:
7761
Profession:
Licensed Practical Nurse
Current Through:
30-APR-05
Status:
ACTIVE
Eligible to Practice:
YES (MULTI STATE)
Granted on:
26-JAN-68
Discipline:
No
Specialty Description:
Despite Rosie's assertions of being a "retired ICCU/ER nurse", the State of
WI defines a LPN as one who performs "for compensation any simple acts in
the care of convalescent, subacutely or chronically ill, injured, or infirm
persons which does not require any substantial nursing skill, knowledge, or
training, or the application of nursing principles based on biological,
physical, or social sciences, or the understanding of the cause and
effect".
So, basically, Rosie has retired from a "career" as a glorified bed-pan
jockey, albeit in the ER. Her real training qualifies her to empty drool
cups in nursing homes. If one does the math from her alleged sobriety date
and her stated age at that time, she would have likely graduated from high
school in 1965 or 1966. Graduating from "nursing school" in 1967 and
licensed in January, 68 would hardly leave time for a 4 year BS in Nursing
degree, now, would it?
Further research into Rosie's alleged credentials produced another
bombshell.
From the Wisconsin Certification Board Website:.

Apparently, Rosie may have registered with Wisconsin Certification
authorities that she had the intention of taking the tests for licensure,
but never got credentialed and allowed the application to lapse.
So, we have a LPN passing herself off as a RN, spouting "knowledge" about
anti-depressants from her lofty perch as a medical professional, and
practicing as an addictions counselor without a license. I wonder what the
penalties are in WI for "having a private practice" without a license?
I'm sure Rosie has a perfectly plausible explanation for all these
"misunderstandings". And I'm sure she'll address all this right away.
Either that, or I'll be dismissed as another "time-wasting Googler" and
branded a malcontent spewing crap and tossed into the dungeon with McGregor,
Moonraker, BlueMoon, Shawster, Virt, The Goz, JB, and all the others who
have dared question Rosie's honesty.
I'm betting no explanation or answer is forthcoming.

In light of this alleged expose perhaps you too would care to sign your name
to same rather than hiding behind an alias.
Your information you have given should have been shared directly with the
subject and not with the newsgroup at large.
Clearly a vindictive, hateful move even if it is all true.
Kindly come forth with your name and city or desist this type of messaging.

I don't see how anyone who posts many messages crictising/denigrating
other peoples' recovery could not be thinking that they are in
superior, at least in terms of their recovery.

i have however had to take several different meds as each once finally

Dysthymia is a milder, chronic form of depression. It may periodically have
episodes of major depression superimposed upon it. When this occurs, it is
known as "double depression".

again, JB,
you are looking for a fight....................
i communicate with many, many wonderful recovering (alcohol, drugs,
sugar, nicotine)folks everyday......................
those few of you who continue to look for arguments, call names, and
attempt to sabotage others, really do not have ANYTHING i would
call recovery.
is that judgmental? yes, i know that it is, and i feel no guilt
about it!
does that make me feel superior?
nope, just sorry for you!

You sound angry.
Your comment: "those few of you who continue to look for arguments,
call names, and attempt to sabotage others, really do not have
ANYTHING i would call recovery" interested me. You do a lot a lot of
what you claim a "few" others do. Do you not know that you are doing
it ?

So you're a member of an organisation that is not an organisation, you are
anonymous but not anonymous, you reposted information you claim should be
private,

At least that figures.

Isn't there that chiropractor-oriented "certificate" in
"addictionology"? Such industry conjured "certificates" aren't the same
as various licensure by state authority. But they can sound like
"credential". Most try to lobby to get blessed by various other
professions and authorities, although the turf wars are typically
lively.
But, you've included me among folks concerned about rosie's "honesty".
I'm probably not especially numbered there. I'll leave that to others,
maybe. I've more queried any supposedly "medical" or "scientific" basis
for such proactive, advocacy assertions regarding taking certain drugs,
supposedly for certain purposes and upon specific premises.
Otherwise, I couldn't be more sure that there's any number of various
"practitioners" of all kinds of things, or that there are any number of
people that favor taking drugs, for many reasons, and according to many
differing ideas about them.

Quit yer pickin' om Chiropractors. I spent 8 years of my life going to
school to become a licensed Chiro in Canada, 4 of those years at a
recognized Canadian University, and another 4 at CMCC in Toronto. You
haven't got a clue regarding the educational prerequisite of becoming a
Chiropractor. I call myself Doctor, and am qualified to make diagnoses. So
go fly a fart, Virt....

Don't mind Virt, Stuart. He is enamored of quackwatch.com where the MD who
runs it has some kind of mad-on against chiropractors.

I've got more than a clue of the education prerequisites of
chiropractors, Stu. Even the "network chiro" specialists, too. As well
as the Primary Referrer gig. And a not atypical rankle of chiros when
it comes to their relative doctorate designation. Heck, Doctors of
Philosophy are doctors, too (i.e. psychologists). I believe they
diagnose, as well, and when it comes to things like addiction. I don't
believe that chiros and psyches have much overlap of educational
prerequisites, usually. Am I mistaken about this?
Aside from all your personal affront at these mentions about some of
your colleagues creating and promoting an "addictionolgist" credential,
it warrants mention at times, and in context.

There is no designated specialty of Chiropractic in "addictions" Specialty
areas include:
roentgenology, clinical sciences, orthopedics, nutrition biochemistry, and
sport sciences. That's it.
PS I started my chiropractic education with 500 hours of human dissection.
