Can someone tell me why, when I send an e-mail from Outlook Express, it
sends it numerous times to the recipient? I am not clicking Send any more
than once. Would appreciate any help or suggestion. Sorry this isn't
addiction related.

Is their name also appearing in the Cc: or Bcc: lines?

Hey, I'm addicted to my computer...

If it's happening to several of your recipients, it's probably a glitch
in your ISP's SMTP server. If it's just happening with one recipient,
it's probably a glitch with their POP server. Either way, there's
nothing locally that you can do. It will resolve itself soon enough.

I'll agree with Moon and Mark. Maybe if you could give us a
copy of your offending message headers, then someone might be
able to diagnose the problem.

I don't know how to do that with OE, but it should be
possible.

Another thing you might consider is to switch to a different
program. OE has a variety of holes in it. So I've heard,
anyway. Agent is much better. IMO.

No, I only put them in the To: line.

It is happening to all the receivers of my e-mail. Appears to be mostly when
I send an attachment, pictures, etc.

I can use Yahoo or MSN. Just, I am not able to attach more than a few
pictures at a time. Outlook, I can attach quite a few more. I exchange
pictures with my family a lot and now they get the pictures 20 times. Also,
Outlook automatically deletes all but one of the e-mails. Doesn't make sense
to me. Been doing this ever since I reformatted this thing.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
Is that Agent you spoke of the Free Agent or the one I would have to pay
for?
Best,
Gail

The one you have to pay for. But at $29 it isn't expensive.
I'm not sure that Free Agent will handle email.

All I can tell you is that I have been very happy both with
the program and with the company. I've been using it for
years, and I have never had a problem with it. It will do
everything you want. Multiple file attachments, etc.

Best program I've ever bought, regardless of price.

The company does not provide support directly, but there are
extensive help files and there is a very good newsgroup that
does provide support.

www.forteinc.com
alt.usenet.offline-reader.forte-agent

And btw, you might try posting your question about the
problems you have been having with OE to the above newsgroup.
It will be somewhat OT there also, but many of the people who
post there are quite knowledgeable about OE -- and very
knowledgable about how ISP's work, etc. If you'd rather not
change programs, that would be worth a try. Cost for that
equals zero.

Sounds like a corrupted Outbox. You can try this (it might fix it and it
won't hurt anything if it doesn't):

Close Outlook Express
Do a Find/Search for "outbox.dbx" (without the quotes)
Delete this file
OE will recreate it the next time it's run

Thanks, Harry. I will check it out.
