View Full Version : Heart burn problems?

Hi guys,
Well, I'm breaking down and going back to the doctor today. I have had this
WICKED case of heartburn, and it seemed to have gone away for about a month
after I stopped drinking (imagine that!). Anyways, it seems to have come back
again (maybe a stress related thing?).
Anyways, i'm trying to heal up some damage to my throat. So a while ago, I had
it looked at (scoped), and the doctor saw some damage, but thought with
Prilosec and of course, staying off the sauce, that it should go away.
Well, it hasn't, and it's driving me freaking crazy! Anyways, does anyone out
there have some experience with healing up that kind of damage? I seem to
remember a tv commercial for Nexium (spelling?), or something, that is supposed
to work well.
Anyways, not asking for anyone to diagnose me here at the NG, just looking for
a little advice.
Thanks a lot,
Wish me luck at the old saw-bones!

Good luck - no suggestions but hope it gets better soon.

Well, It's been a few years but the GERD is still here. Pretty steady
relief with the pink pill or the purple pill or the Blue/Pink pill. I have
to be careful not to overeat, don't eat greasy foods too late in the
evening. When I run out of pills, the Extra Strength antacids seems to work
(of course following the directions of course).
Could be worse, but it's not...

Mine is always worse when I put on weight. When I take off 5-10 pounds it
goes away.

I've had chronic heartburn my entire life. My drinking made the pain unbearable
and I went to the DR. (I was still a drunk). He did the scope thing, saw some
damage to the throat and stomach so he prescribed, Prevacid once a day.
Works great stopped the problem 100% even when I was still a drunk.

john,
you will probably need a follow up scoping (EGD) but why not talk to
you doctor about putting you on some nexium (esomeprazole
magnesium)?
my husband, tom, has seen great improvement among the patients that
he uses it on.
another tip?
try going on a LOW CARB way of eating.
