No advice, only experience ... most alcoholics are crap at handling a
relationship with self, let alone anyone else.
Of course, this isn't unique to alcoholics. It's just more
threatening to alcoholics because "treading on others' emotional toes"
and "drinking again" is what alcoholics do best (or worst, depending
on your perception). He's doing the former, and if he carries on
behaving that way it's really only a matter of time before he's back
to the latter.
As for advice, the only advice I could offer would be to him: start
taking responsibility for your actions.
