Hey!
OK, OK, I messed up. I've been back in the bottle for a good few days
now. I'm not drinking now or today (and hopefully not again...). I'm
pretty shaky and can barely type well. Is there ANYTHING that I can take
(preferably like over the counter, or just foods or whatever) that will
help with the shakes until my body adjusts to not having alcohol in it
again?

i had the shakes pretty bad when i finally quit drinking, for me proper
food (no caffeine) and rest helped immensely.
if you are having excess problems you might need to see your doctor.

I'm with Moonraker and jonathan. Some good B-COMPLEX vits (aside from
jonathan's post ) and hydration are really important.
I found too that taking small meals, even a couple of bites at time helped
things out.
Other than that, if you have a day or two off work, just hunker down? I
watched more history channel and discovery than probably the freaking producers
those first few day.
good luck my friend.
John
ps, the b complex vits, and other vitamins helped, but FREAKED me out the first
couple days. They made (and continue to) make my pee smell really badly, and
turn it BRIGHT orange. My Dr. tells me that it's only because your body can't
handle too many vits at one time. The yellow is what your body can't handle at
the time. They also tore up my stomach, and so I would take a half of a
multivitamin(a "one a day" type) in the morning with half of the b-complex, and
the rest of the b vitamins in the evening. Do both of them with some food or a
glass of milk, if your guts are anything like mine were.
and you might want to get to some meetings too? they really helped me. along
with not drinking gallons of coffee, and some nice herb tea (I was a big fan of
jasmine and licorace)? Calmed my nerves down a LITTLE bit, but not too much.
helped a little with sleep too.
He just told me to drink plenty of water and it would go away.
milk thistle is good for your liver.
Plenty of carbs are good.....keeps the blood sugar up without the peaks and
troughs.
Drink plenty of water and just generally take it easy
all the best....you can get through it

I just want to say thank you to all. Thanx for the suggestions and your
thoughts. I posted that early-ish in the morning. It's now evening here
and I'm feeling a good bit better (hell, I can at least type, and also
smile and not have half of my face twitching. I took all the suggestions
(the vitamins, the gatorade, the carbs (although I just really couldn't
eat all that much, which made my belly a bit sick because of eating the
vits, but...). Now I just gotta go get some sleep. The shitty thing is I
had to make an emergency run to work (where I'm typing from), so I haven't
been able to get to bed as early as I hoped. I've been up since about
2:30 in the morning, it's just after 8:00 PM now (I haven't been sleeping
well at all the past week or so). uggg...
Thanx, folks.
:-)
