Recovery Florence

The following article was extracted from http://recovery-in-
florence.blogspot.com/2006/09/owls-nest-recovery-house.html and if
you're interested and particularly living in South Carolina and are
part of the recovering community, I would encourage you to read it
and tell anyone who may be interested.
http://www.daodas.org has been contacted and so has recently the
Governor's office. How this alleged abuse continues to occur and go
on in our community has many of us scratching our heads as to why
nothing is being done.

If we were concerned citizens hearing allegations of child abuse or
molestation at a daycare provider wouldn't one phone call to some
government agency take care of that? We don't think we would need
to get affidavits from the children or the daycare workers or the
children's' parents would we? Of course not.
If suspecting mistreatment of the elderly at a nursing home, would
we need notarized affidavits from the somewhat incapacitated
elderly? Or how about from the man who has Alzheimer's but
continues to show bruises or perhaps fear when a certain orderly
enters the room? Couldn't we start with the director of the
facility and work our way up from there if we saw no signs of
improvement? Now, what if we suspected the Director of abuses? What
if the Director of this government subsidized nursing facility was
involved in constant allegations from residents or their families?
Would we not have recourse to go above even him?
We are a group of people who are concerned and have continually
come across disturbing information and allegations from past
"residents" over what has gone on and seemingly continues to go on
at a place that calls itself the "Owl's Nest Recovery House" in or
about the Florence, S.C. area.
[...end excerpt...]
Thank you for reading and please pass it on to anyone who may be
interested in helping.
