Making an attempt for the billionth time to quit drinking.
Really getting worried this time about dt's.
My head and my body is going like a roller coaster.
hungrey one minute the next minute I feel like pukin.
One minute I feel like the tansmainiun devil with energy the next minute
I feel like a nap. Gawd I hate this.
Why cant it just be like the flue where and when your (now all gone)
loved ones tuck you in and feel your forehead?

"Making an attempt" is not positive, a reasonable indicator you'll be
going through all this shit, and more, again, whether you like it or not.
Seems to me that a phrase AA coined is pertinent no matter which way one
proposes to successfully stop drinking, and stay stopped. *are willing
to go to any length* http://tinyurl.com/8py4u
Nevertheless, the odds against DT's this time are probably in your
favour. There's a medical opinion here:- http://tinyurl.com/pekza

Just so you know mr negative I sit on the middle of the fence about AA
Besides there werent any chicks there worth picking up and takeing home
and I dont have a bigger and better hell storie to tell the group yet!
My way has worked and so has your way show some respect hot-shot isn't
that in the big book somewhere......I saw my dad(just had there 53
aniversery) who beet the shit out of my mom all my life and me and my
bro's quit cold turkey 30 years ago with out AA My ex-wifes parents now
bible thumpers quit 25 years ago with out AA.
Maybe you need AA today.....I got the net doc's and pills a AA
counseller....had a bad feeling she wanted to dump me when she found out
I was on the fence about AA storie telling meetings.
There is a higher power.... Will-Power!
Some got it some don't. I got a clean licence, job I like, co-workers I
like, A home bought and paid for.
No disrespect intended. Never mind I am bitchy I just missed a AA
meeting and happy-hour sitting here on the net.

It doesn't quite work that way. It isn't wise but I detoxed myself at
home. I am not a doctor, and have no experience with people
withdrawing, but I can tell you how I got through it. I stocked up on
chicken broth, those jello gel cups, and lots of bottled water. Of
course food or water will do you no good for the first two to three
days since you'll be puking your guts out if you even try to move. It's
quite miserable. Even bright lights will send you on another puking
spree. The sound of a pin dropping will make your head feel like it's
going to explode. I don't think I've ever felt so sick in my life. If I
could have actually been able to get up and walk I'd have grabbed the
gun from the safe and shot myself. By the third or fourth day you
should be able to keep soft foods (jello, broth, etc) in your body. And
then comes the decision as to whether you are going to stay sober or
head to the liquor cabinet. This is what I went through. If you decide
to raid the liqour cabinet you definately need in-treatment. I've
fallen off the wagon once since I quit but managed to climb back on it.
Your best bet is in-treatment anyway, but I'm just sharing how I
managed to detox myself.

Sounds like you have a bad hangover, drink plenty of water. Why can't
it be like flu? I think all addictions are hard to quit. You are
anxious, you drink, you feel good, the alcohol wears off, you feel more
anxious than you were before, you drink more than you did before and so
on until it fucks you. My problem is staying off, I have not been able
to quit with AA or RR although I don't blame either of those
organisations after all it's down to me; and so I'm trying to do it
alone. I have a residual level of anxiety even after months off the
drink (the longest I lasted was a year and a bit with RR). I think
everyone drinks for a bit of dutch courage, but I personally need more
than most. Maybe reading will take my mind off things. I should start a
group called reading recovery or recovery through reading. Having
better things to do than drink, I'm sure that's the answer.

Hey Clive,
Do you have a personal physician. It would not hurt to talk to a Doctor
about your problems staying stopped as far as drink goes. It may also be
beneficial to talk to him about the "residual" anxiety. There are many
holistic methods to deal with anxiety such as exercise, healthy diet,
adequate rest, avoiding stressful situation where possible, and relaxation
techniques and meditation. There are also medical alternatives when
holistic methods don't fully meet your needs. An honest relationship with
a good physician can be a great asset.

Thanks for hi-jacking my thread... Get your own thread.
Anyways as of 3 hours from now I made it a whole week without a drop.
I was tested in every witch way possible from good to bad.
Had to do a service call at my ex's girl friends old house (she moved)
(memories)
Had to put down my friend (cat 16 yr's)
Had to watch my ex-girlfriend drive around town in my ex-wifes car (long
storie)
Had to not drink after being forgiven by ex-girlfriend via email (roses
on doorstep) (reward craving)
My week was like going thru a meat grinder......sure could have used a
beer ....but the coffee tastes good tonight and this is the first night
I want to be alone and am alone and i like it.
