when i was in a treatment center in minneapolis in the 1990's the staff
bullied and hounded me to do it their way, do the 12-steps, believe in
god, ect ect-- i was kicked out while i was still detoxing--in a
medically unstable condition(at risk for seizures)because one of the
directors and facilitators --mary scanlon--thought i was bad for their
morale--i was mlking them look bad. she was extremely loud, vociferous,
bullying, and obnoxious and seemed to have particular dislike(if not
hatred for me) an extremely mean spirited person. i didnt want to go
but she had several well-built security guards make sure i leave the
hospital almost immediately with her standing there with a nasty-smart
elleck look as i was forced to leave the unit. when i got out i tried
to go the er because i was feeling so sick but they found out where i
just came from and refused to treat me and the security guards came
back and took me out and told me if i came back on hospital grounds
after i got in the cab that i could end up being shot and it would be
justified.after i left i had also found out that she(MARY SCANLON) had
removed medical records(x-rays i had brought from another hospital of a
medical condition) from my file and they disappeared. i had to have the
x-rays repeated because when a doctor needed them they were not there
and he needed them to evaluate a condition i had. this was in minnesota
over 10 years ago. just goes to show you how mean, and ruthless the ama
is when anyone even a little pipsqueek like me tries to challenge their
theological and socially based medical models of addictive diseases.

So you were unbearable when you came off the booze? Who isn't? I was a right
pig when I gave up smoking and as for the booze, when I gave that up I
turned psychotic, literally but now people like me for some reason.

Are you doing well today?

Sounds like everyone else was to blame for your problems dude. Maybe that's
what needed to change.

I wasn't psychotic, but I was ...difficult! I guess I still am, just less
and less often.

Nice speech. Take the spotlight you are shining on every other person
who has ever crossed your path and direct it on yourself. Take a good
hard look. You'll find that 90% of all the shite in your life was
either caused directly by you or made infinitely worse by how you
reacted to it. Or wimp out and keep blaming...
