View Full Version : im drinking
Went to the bottle store and bought five ales.
I've drank them all. And I feel good.
I don't feel like im an alcoholic.
I checked the website for the definition of an alcoholic and I don't think I
am one
I never suffer withdrawel symptoms from alcoholc such as the shakes.
Thanks for the advice guys.
But I reckon I may just need to take it easy.

But I reckon if you ever come to the point where you are having a difficult
time "taking it easy", you might want to revisit the question.
The only problem with booze is that when you get there, the mind has a
difficult time reformulating the question.

hehe i was in denial till i went to treatment 4
times. Hehe 4 arrests, not to mention my other
alcohol tickets, jail, even without that i'm
definitely an alcoholic. I have friends in
complete denial. Alcoholics are a funny bunch.

hehe cause i tried to b.s. myself in the past too!
True not very funny but this is classic case of
alcoholic denial. Hehe i don't drink until 5, i
don't have blackounts, i have a good job, i don't
have withdrawals, so therfore i am not an
alcoholic. I am an alcoholic, a practicing one at
that (i am a model employee where i work, no w.d.s
blackouts but i am what i am), but the key is
being honest with yourself, and planting the
recovery 'seed.' I wish Fred well, i believe he
is genuine, but maybe he needs to study the
alcohol issue a bit further. Maybe not. I could
be wrong, and i admit that. I'm not trying to
finger point saying 'hey fred, your an alcy, your
in denial, but being he comes here posting
sounding like he's trying to convice himself he is
not, makes me believe he may be. If you question
your drink problem i think there is a good chance
you've had problems in life because of it and may
be an alcy. No shame in that, some people are and
some aren't, but i think way too many people are
in complete denial on the issue, thinking it's a
dirty word and a bad thing. I'll freely admit, i
wish i wasn't, but i am? I need to address it,
and i freely admit. Some the coolest friendliest
people are alcys. Even cooler during recovery.
Ya can be a skid row bum or iq of 150 alcohol does
not discriminate. I think people need to be a bit
more educated on the issue. There is a lot of
'ignorance' on the subject, IMO.

The trouble with that is that everyone assumes that anyone denying haveing a
problem with alcohol automatically has a problem with alcohol so if this is
the case then what would a person who doesn't have a problem say? Claim that
he has?

Yep but there's the other side of the coin which is over acceptance. That
iis accusing everyone who you smell drink on as having a drink problem and
then saying, it's alright. You're with frinds now but the person you are
saying it to might have had a pint with his workmates at lunch but other
than that hasn't touched booze in a fortnight and even then it was a glass
of wine.
