character assasination, fisticuffs, passive aggression, sarcasm, time,
patience, humor, tenacity, willingness, love, reason, wisdom, humor,
hobbies and other distractions, exercise, voodo magic, understanding,
empathy, compassion, prayer, meditation, medication... to name a few.

I've been known to make phonecalls at 2am and then
hang up...
And I also do a very effective pout too! :)

Try pouting out of a car window going 90 mph. You'll slap yourself
silly and get spit in your ear.

Yeah, there's that too. I've been making amends out of sequence, but
I'll do that anyway.
Isn't there some 4th step workbook that sort of holds your hand through
all this?
I'm to do some brainstorming diagrams/journaling on how to start dealing
with the various issues in my life. One of those is an internet
addiction.

The instructions for step 4 are in the bb. they're just too simple to get
for most of us. I recommend reading step 4 in the 12and12 first. Then get a
piece of paper and pen and make a list of all those you folks you resent in
one coluomn, the cause in another, and what it affects in another. In the
fourth coloumn, make a note of what you did to get the resentment ball
rollling. Chances are if you have few resentments as most of us, the entire
list is goona look pretty stupid. And you know how we alkies hate to look
stupid.
While you're at it why not take the 8 hours and listen to the Joe and
Charlie talk. Helped me a lot and saved my program

Typically people who chose to take this path avail
themselves of a sponsor first.... It's not something many
AAer's would suggest that you do alone.

I picked up a 12x12 at Half Price Books. There's a joke in here about
never discounting the power of AA.

Thanks nutso (do I know you well enough now to just use your first
name?), but I don't intend to get a sponsor. I'll find someone I trust
for the 5th step. I've gone through the steps at least twice before,
maybe three times, but, it has been a while too.
I had a couple of sponsors and never really related to it. I had
another fella who fancied himself my sponsor, but I kept catching him
eyeing my crotch.
I had a couple of sponsees at one time, and never really related to that
either. But I didn't mind talking to people when they needed, and
lending support.
I am 21 years sober. I'm not invulnerable now, but I have a lot more
insight to myself these days than when I was in early sobriety. And I'm
fairly honest with myself, and I know full well I've had a big hand in
causing problematic situations in my life.
I fully intend to take what I need and leave the rest, but I appreciate
your desire to see me succeed.

Get the "Joe and Charlie" tapes. They have them on the internet. Type in
"Joe and Charlie" and you'll find theri series in the form of media files.
Tells you exactly how to do a step 4, and what to expect in the way of
miraculous results if you do it correctly. They're a real eye-opener. Highly
highly recommended....

Yeah, I thought this was going to be easy, until I started thinking of
resentments against dead family members, and the specifics of other
resentments.

That exact point is dealt with in the 12 and 12... Why another human is

I'm dislexic. I don't read literature unless it's in a format i can put
through my reader and I don't see why i should pay for literature about a
condition I didn't ask for.

I can definitely see why this topic caught your attention...
But who says I was actually going to send you the literature?
I was just hoping to get a credit-card number. <eg>

Be interesting to see if you bother downloading the 12$12 in windows help
format from this link http://tinyurl.com/gqaww then putting it through your
reader; before AA's effective primary purpose is revealed and the site is
censored or shut down.

I wonder why he couldn't have copied the pasage and pasted it with citations
of course rather than tell me to buy the book. Cheers for your help Bob.
Sadly the take on step 5 didn't help much. There is still no way on this
earth or the next I'm letting anyone in on my deepest secrets..

Probably because he would have had to type it in, not cut and paste,
and/or didn't have the material directly in front of him. And, you were
seemingly being a little sarcastic (I'm guilty of that too), so there
was less desire to go to great lengths. But I'm only guessing.

There was no sarcasm there but I'm so used to being sarcastic that even when
I'm not being sarcastic I come across as sarcastic. I'm not being sarcastic
now either. I just thought I'd add that because i wanted to see how many
times i could squeeze the word, 'sarcastic' into a single post.

That's only 5. Hardly worth starting.

Sure thing Just (may I call you Just?). The only reason I mentioned
it was because you seemed to be leaning in 'that' direction - otherwise
I wouldn't have even brought it up. ;)

When in rehab we had a workshop regarding "resentments"
Here's what the work-sheet offered.
"The moment you start to resent a person you become their slave...
He controls your dreams, absorbs your digestion, robs you of your
peace of mind and good will, and takes away your pleasure to work...
He ruins your religion and nullifies your prayers...
You cannot take a vacation without his going along.
He destroys your freedom of mind and hounds you wherever you go.
There is no way to escape the person you reresent...
He is with you when you're awake. He invades your your privacy when
you sleep...
He is close beside you when you eat, when you drive your car and when
you're on the job.
You can never have efficiency or happiness. He influnences even the
tone of your voice.
He requires you to take medication for indigestion, headaches and
loss or energy.
He even steals your last moment consciousness before you go to sleep.
So... if you want to be a slave...
Harbor your Resentments!!!!!!"

I resent you telling me this.
Twenty years ago I did a tumultrous 5th step with my extremely religious
and overly judgemental older brother, who was the source of the majority
of my resentments. Our relationship has been greatly improved ever
since.

Sounds interesting. Does doing a fifth step work with someone whose views
and actions you have a somewhat negative opinion of, and whom you previously
resented? Sure it wasn't a 9th step?

You see, I have a nice city in my head where I'm basing my fantasy
stories. So, if I tell those people off then still feel angry, I throw
them down there and have them stoned, hung, disembowled, wheeled, drawn
and quartered, and anything else I can think of.
