Ya know...the information highway leads so many places. If only we had the
sense to put the information together. This cheese and opiates deal is
really impressive. I learned some time ago about some of the inner workings
of the brain and addiction as we now see it and just got how it's all
interrelated. Our cravings for being well. The sense of wellbeing vs. the
sense of desire or need. Yet desire is a necessary self preservation
experience built deep into our memories and feelings that are all electrical
impulses sparking away in a synergistic symphony. A delicate balance that
exists in each of us and that we as individuals observe the world through on
a moment by moment basis. I think the separatist view of AA's as being
different from their fellows kind of causes a problem for some. I
think...ou-oh...that perhaps we should head into a more inclusive realm.
Like perhaps, "Alcohol - in all it's forms." I understand that perhaps if a
person shared about their addiction to cheese and I were in a meeting
craving a drink I might not see it...but then remember the part about
looking for the similarities rather than the differences.
