Hello all. I remember posting on here in the early days that I was tempted
to try alcohol-free beer and nearly everyone jumped down my throat and said
don't.
So I didn't until about a year ago. I eat out a lot and I get really sick
of lemonade and coke. I even got sick of lime soda that had become my
poison. I never drank beer when I used to drink (if you know what I mean)
so drinking alcohol-free beer has been fine. I just have one with my meal
when I go out and maybe two a week at home.
My sister discovered a source of alcohol-free champagne and red wine. Now
the champagne I don't have a problem with as I was never very keen. I tried
some and it was nice. We are going to have a bottle on Christmas day.
The red wine had me really scared. That was my downfall. I just looked at
the three bottles for about a week. Then I got the corkscrew - had to hunt
for it, rusting in the back of the drawer - and had one sip. What a relief!
It tasted like dry blackcurrant juice, not like the wine I remember. I took
one with me last week when we went out for dinner with friends and it was
nice to be able to drink my "wine" like everyone else. But I didn't even
finish one bottle. I am very pleased to have found something that is not
sweet that I can enjoy with my food.
Has anyone else had experience of alcohol-free wine or beer?
