I recalll posting about a buddhist who joined AA last week. Today he came
back and within the meeting started with a reading and the reading went
rather heavily on the God and Christianity theme. The Buddhist stood up and
asked to be excuse then said he will not be returning as the spiritual side
of AA is incompatible with his own beleifs. I had a lot of understanding an
appreciation of his position. I said i beleived the religious promotions of
AA would scare people off now I know for certain.

Well, if I see any drunk buddist around I will understand what their
problem is.

Thanks for the info

And good riddance to him too.

Any "buddhist" alcoholic whose attachment to belief is more important
than sobriety may as well keep right on drinking, if only to show
folk at the bars, jails, institutions, and, lest we forget, post
mortems; what a Buddhist is not!

Sounds credible. Bob. I can show you what a lawyer-induced non-disabled
person is not, too.

Stuart, your "vested interest" omission of the negative,
"chiropractic," when presenting as a physician
http://tinyurl.com/8wo89 adequately explains your obsession with
litigation.

Thanks for the offer though, it will be most amusing when you show us
what a "lawyer-induced non-disabled person is not"

things that make me go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

When I finally did get here, if "my own religous beliefs" had been working
for me...... I would not have needed to get here.... I hope the Buddhist
finds peace.

Just a thought....

I don't think religious beleifs are a cure for alcoholism. I think the
reason why the 12 step programme works for so many is that it helps sufferes
embrace their true selves (whatever that may be)

Well, then we have something in common -- I know religious beliefs are not
a cure for alcoholism -- a least not for me.
