View Full Version : Why do we do it?
We all for the most part go to work everyday to provide ourselves with
sustenance, shelter and the things that we think will make us happy. A
nice car, bigger house, a cottage and then spend every spare moment
numbing ourselves and distorting our sense of reality so that we can't
experience any of them.
Its funny how perception changes with sobriety, if only I could tell
the others, would they listen?

What about those who live in the same hinterland but don't drink? It must
be twice as tough for them??

Thanks for posting this, Poe - says very neatly just what I've been trying
to tell my hubby for the past two years. Trouble is, he should know it
anyhow - he had 10 years' joyous and serene sobriety under his belt before
relapsing. I know he isn't listening to anything I might say (or his AA
sponsor, or his psych, or indeed his Higher Power), but I'm going to print
this out and leave it lying around on the off-chance he'll read it...
