Did I miss something? What's so special about this upcoming weekend?

well, knowing alcoholics, it is probably something personal that is being
projected.

I think she is asking for help.

Rosie's just trolling for some more folks to supplement her flagging

Oh, so it's nothing special, just a couple more 24 hours?

So many.

28 Days
My Little Eye

are a couple I have seen recently

I'm getting some in this evening - after watching twister on TV which is
one of my all time favs - I'm a sucker (?) for special effects....

We could make this an ongoing thread with movie reviews - I think it IS
on-topic as you are right - developing an interest in movies watched at
home can help sobriety - especially during danger periods.

Not sure, the name sounds familiar, but I have no specific
recollection. Don't know about Deb/Bubba.

Kathy Bates was the mom of about 6 kids. Her abusive husband died. The
family had nothing and set off to find a home. The guy who was in Powder was
the oldest son, and lots younger in this movie. I don't know his name. Good
actor though.

no jonathan, just another weekend, but i remember my weekends in the "early days" as having the potential of being abit
tougher.
one of the tools that i learned is one that you are using...................skip the "BIG" parties!

Any day was tough for me. In fact, at weekends I tended to have more
to do, not less. A hard time would be shopping days.

Hi all - MNIMAIAAA
The saying 'Slippery people should stay away from slippery places' comes to
mind as far as weekends or anydays are concerned. Had the opportunity to go
to a convention / teambuilding this week. Slept over three nights in what
can only be described as the lap of luxury. A British princess slept there
the week before. A few things saddened me for the alcoholic who does not
have AA background or a firm foundation. One was the hidden 'drinks'. Before
each meal I had to ask the Chef which courses contains alcohol so as to
avoid. Second was the peer pressure. Drinking all the way there and back and
having an excuse to celebrate was the order of the day. People who know me
had the care to ask if it bothered me if somebody drank in front of me. It
would have been totally out of place if I replied that I can handle the
continual brainwashing that happiness, success and team spirit goes hand in
hand with booze, that was taking place there. The third thing was the little
bar-fridge in the room. ('...those that are not here for the first item this
morning must have really celebrated last night. Oh well, the deserve it...'
What really made me sit up there was the prices and the fact that it only
contained enough booze to really give me a thirst should I have partaken of
it. The last thing was perhaps the way that wives and husbands was forgotten
about after a few drinks. I know that it was the way it worked for me but it
always saddens me when one sees the effect happening to 'non-alcoholics'.
To any new-comers here I can only say that they must stick around, stay away
from slippery places and remember, it is a hard world out there. For me for
instance, one mistake, one slip, will most probably be my last. One only get
so many chances and your liver can only take so much. Did you know that one
of the less publicized way of dying from booze is drowning in your own
vomit. It is simple, have you ever passed out? Have you ever vomited?
Imagine the two happening at the same time. It will probably be in the
newspaper as asphyxia...my arse!
Kind regards
Mias

Here's a couple:
"The days of wine and roses"
"Who's afraid of virginia wolf"

I used to love watching either of these with a bottle of vodka.
