Doctors urge alcohol warning
A doctor from the north-east of England is handing in a petition to
the government on Wednesday as part of a campaign for greater alcohol
awareness.
Dr Chris Record from the Royal Victory Infirmary in Newcastle is
asking for health warnings to be placed on bottles of beer and other
alcoholic drinks.
The hospital would like to see cigarette-style warnings which clearly
state the number of alcohol units in each drink, and that HM
Government deems that exceeding safe limits will damage health.
The limit for men is 21 units a week for men and 14 units a week for
women.
