Went to a good meeting last nite, kinda went like this

1. Got a large coffee milled around a bit
2. Meeting called to order so while the readings were going on I
checked all the women out.
3. Sharing started, as folks would share I took their inventory and if
they were women I imagined what it would be like to get drunk with em.
4. When I shared told em how my higher power saved my ass and how
sweet life is.
5. During closing I checked out which newcomer I would shake hands
with and welcome , made a point of giving them my number and telling
them if they ever need someone to call before taking the first drink
to call.
5. Said my good-byes hugged a few gals (best part)

Well, cant wait for my meeting this evening, life is good aint it?

I hope you aren't one who stares at the women. Women hate that. There was
this guy (creep) that used to almost stand on his head to get a glimpse of a
woman sitting behind him. He would turn every which way. He would roll those
eyes and head around something awful. He had a corvette and I guess he
thought that made it ok. CREEP!
Hugging the gals is ok. I used to have a sponsor whose husband thought it
gave him the right to pinch his wife's sponsee's on the ass. That is a NO
NO, too. ;)
Glad you went up to a newcomer.
Best,
Gail

JB, here in the US that would sortof sound like an insult. Worth calling?
So, does that mean you might have doubts Dave is worth calling? Maybe that
is something you say in the UK?
I am sure Dave would be someone worth calling. Sad part is, most newcomers
never use those phone numbers and it isn't becase someone isn't worth
calling. ;)
Dave appears to be a guy that could be useful for a newcomer. He has a good
wit about him, too. I like that in a person.

I love trolling, throw the hook out and look what ya get.
love rainy days........:))

Well, off to my Tuesday meeting..........shake a few hands, let a
newcomer know that a complete stranger may be the one to help them not
pick up the next drink.

Cheers fellows keeps the heads in the book.Keep it Simple

No.

As I live in the UK, clearly, at least one person does ;^)

OK. What one person considers "wit", or " a witty remark" may or not
be viewed as such by another. If you have taken offence at my
comment, "worth calling", then you and I, on this occasion, have
interpreted it in different ways. I know that it was not intended to
be an offensive remark.

FWIW, not everyone to whom I have given my phone number, has rung me.
<g> So on that basis and FWIW, I guess I'm not consider worth
knowing :^)

Dave,
I just thought that it was funny how perfectly you described a
phenomenon that we all see at most of the meetings we go to. Actually it's
one of the reasons that I don't go to the closed gay meetings. It's a lot
funnier to watch the 13th steppers at work than it is to be the recipient of
their attentions.

Actually, from your post, some good may have come :^)

BTW, are you the DaveB who's just re-joined a certain on-line AA group
business meeting ?

There are many on-line AA groups. Maybe, quite a number of them run
business meetings.

If you go to www.aa-intergroup.org you'll find there details of groups
and how to join them. I think it best for you decide which
group/groups
might be right for you.

Yeah, that's what makes the 13th step jerks so offensive. It isn't
just the sexual opportunism, although it's always pretty horrible when
someone takes advantage of people who are already weakened, vulnerable and
needing help. The worst part is that it interferes with the real help that
the target was looking for when they came into the rooms. If one of the
after effects of that kind of opportunism is to drive the person back out to
drinking, it can amount to some kind of homicide.
A lot of the people with this particular set of problems are dealing
with issues of self loathing that are some of the reasons they are self
medicating with alcohol. Being used by someone to whom they were looking
for help can aggravate those feelings and send them back into the downward
spiral.
Stuff to avoid, eh?
