JB,
No one can take your inventoty but you. Anyone who tries it is really taking
their own inventory..They just don't have enough sobriety to know it yet.
"You never take anyone elses inventory" is a fact.....not a rule.

That may sometimes be true. I doubt that it always is.

Well, on that basis, those that do, clearly, have no respect for this

Oops. clearly, I msread the above sentence :^) So, even my mind and my

So RK, does that mean you took our inventory and come to the conclusion that
we did not have enough sobriety to take anothers inventory? Does that mean I
can take someones inventory when I get enough sobriety and could you please
tell me when that year(s) might be? Curious mind wants to know.
Damn, sponsors do it all the time!
Oh yeah, in case no one has told you, this group is not AA. Stick around and
you will most likely see a lot of taking others inventory...LOL!

Also RK, what you might be mistaking as taking someones inventory might well
be someone trying to help someone with something they think might help that
person to take a look at. Heck, people in here have taken my inventory on
more than one occasion and believe it or not, has helped me grow.

Daily Reflections
DAILY MONITORING
Continued to take personal inventory. . . . . TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE
TRADITIONS, p. 88
The spiritual axiom referred to in the Tenth Step-- "every time we are
disturbed, no matter what the cause, there is something wrong with
us"--also tells me that there are no exceptions to it. No matter how
unreasonable others may seem, I am responsible for not reacting
negatively. Regardless of what is happening around me I will always
have the prerogative, and the responsibility, of choosing what happens
within me. I am the creator of my own reality. When I take my daily
inventory, I know that I must stop judging others. If I judge others,
I am probably judging myself. Whoever is upsetting me most is my best
teacher. I have much to learn from him or her, and in my heart, I
should thank that person.

You never?
What about you, RK? How many others did you inventory, prior to
inventoring JB, then somehow elevating yourself to the "status" of
being more sober; than sober?

I know how the BB defines "inventory" and for what purpose such an
inventory is taken. I don't know how you two define the word nor for
what purpose either of you might decide to take your own or someone
else's. Would you care to share your understanding of the word and why
you might take your own inventory and/or someone else's ?

For me, there is to much accusing in here of people taking others inventory.
There are some people who give constructive criticism and are accused of
taking inventory. There are also some that give distructive criticism and
those are the ones I worry about. They are also accused of taking someones
inventory. I believe the word inventory is thrown around to much.
I stand by what I said in a previous post. Sometimes I, or we, may see
something in someone and point it out to them and someone may see something
in me and point it out. That isn't inventory. Wouldn't you agree that it is
usually because we want to help that person? Well, most of the time anyway.
I do have my doubts at times.
My inventory comes when I take what someone has pointed out to me and look
at myself and acknowledge that what was told to me, about me, might be right
and then take the steps to correct it. Usually, the other person is
right....;) Does that mean that I have taken their inventory and come to the
conclusion that they took mine? Nope!
The word inventory is thrown around to much!
Best,
Gail

Now, here, you've touched upon the subject of how "criticism" is
interpreted.
What you, for example, might interpret as "distructive cricitism" (ie
that which is designed to be not helpful) may not be viewed as such by
someone else. Similarly, when you, for example, give what you think
is "constructive criticism", the person who it's aimed at, may not see
it that way. Sometimes, both the giver of cricitism and the receiver
of it, interpret it in the same way. If both agree that what's been
said was "constructive criticism", then, maybe the person who received
it will make use of it and gain benefit from doing so.
>Sometimes I, or we, may see

Certainly, there are folk here and elsewhere whose criticisms of me I
welcome. Usually, that's because, over time, they've said enough to me
to make it possible for me to have come to believe that they are
always genuinely concerned about my welfare. Then, there's other folk
who appear to me to only sometimes have genuine concerns for it.
Finally, there are others who, to me, appear to dislike me. When they
criticise me, their criticisms give me the impression that rarely are
they more than an expression of contempt for and/or resentment towards
me.

When I refer to destructive criticism I am referring to calling people
names. I don't think that is appropriate or very grown up for any of us. ;)
I believe I have done that in the past, myself. I have done what I can to
correct those actions.
Your right about the rest of what you replied.
In fact, I believe I owe RK an apology for calling him Thumper. I am sorry
RK.
I guess it I thought it was ok because I wasn't calling him a slut, lieing
whore, faggot or some of the other crap people have called people in here.

I am curious as to why you would only ask RK and myself that question. Did
Robert not reply to RK and ask if he had taken inventory, is Robert exempt
to your question or are you afraid of pissing Robert off and having him
possiby call you names?

I agree about name calling not being appropriate or very grown up.
I also consider the following remarks (the majority of which are not
founded on truths) to be fine examples of further behaviours which are
inappropriate for adults who like to think of themselves as being
"grown up" and, perhaps, wish to be viewed as such:
"Jonathan, i don't want MCGOOGLE to get shot along with all the other
koalas.......................... at least not before he finally "gets
it", and is finally able to have some real serenity/sobriety, and gets
off his dry drunk."
"drunk again, huh bob?"
"sorry christine, but i think a few of us are "gun shy" where you are
concerned. your name calling certainly LIMITS discussion."
"yeah, yeah, yeah, heard all the stories about
her"husband"...................... when he/she starts even getting
CLOSE to telling the truth, i will think twice about killfiling
him/her, but until then.......................ick!
"you know something moonie? i have "cut you tons of slack" because of
your wife's battle with cancer, and the toll that it must be taking on
you, but you truly are running out of
excuses........................")
"moonie is upset because he was exposed for not being sober, and
taking sleeping pills".
"jonathan, i also treated JB as a sincere newcomer when the JB posts
started to appear....................... it didn't take long before
the lies started to build up, and since being called on them, or
ignored by me, JB has been added to my list of malcontents for the
crap that is spewed by him/her".
"i was laughing at you JB, because of the pathetic way "you
play".................here in the states you would be referred to as a
player............i don't know what you call it over
there.....................just pathetic"
"JB, is just sitting in a "pity pot of rejection" which will
disappear as soon as he/she finds something else to be "hurt" about!"
"harry, do not interpret JB's post as being sincere. he/she is not."
"JB, must live with the lies that he/she has told, the imaginary crap
the he/she tries to stir up............................"
"JB, you just don't get it do you............................... you
are who you say you are, and its NEVER been really believable!"

Rosie,
Perhaps you were at the time you wrote the above your were not
pointing fingers ( that would be a bit difficult to do while typing)
but when you made it, I believe that you had certain folk in mind.
Such comments as "a bad apple is just that" is a passing of judgement
on another person and, IMO, such a judgement is not intended as a
complement. Also, IMO, when such comments are made, the person who
makes them, usually does not think that they fit the description and
therefore are "better/ more wholesome " folk than those whom they have
criticised. However, sometimes, it could be projection.

Gail,
In the BB, there is this passage:
"..... any life run on self-will can hardly be a success. On that
basis we almost always in collision with something or somebody, even
though are motives are good............ Each person is like an actor
who wants to run the whole show; is forever trying to arrange the
lights, the ballet, the scenery and the rest of the players in his
own way. If his arrangements would only stay put, if only people
would do as he wished.................... Life would be wonderful"
(pages 60/61)
Rightly or wrongly, I have interpreted your post as an attempt to
direct my life.

certain things. I guess that all I can recommend to JB is:

Do not be discouraged if your prospect does not respond at once. Search out
another alcoholic and try again. You are sure to find someone desperate
enough to accept with eagerness what you offer.
I think that Rosie will be just fine. ;)

LOL. Well, FWIW, I am more aware than I used to be of when I am
attempting to run someone's life and also, when I am aware of doing
this, knowing whether or not I feel at ease doing so.

Love and tolerance of others is our code.
Have a good night. I may read some more.

At the same time, Rosie, how can we live in an active society without making
judgments of others?
Say you own a retail business and run an ad for a new employee. Don't you
have to make judgments of the applicants? Not just on their ability to do
the job, but how they appear, talk, and just plain, do you like them, and
want someone that around the store all day?

You had for me a recommendation :^)
FWIW, if I have something to say to you, I hope to always have the
courage to say it to your face; not in gossip with someone else.

I have said it to your face or at least the best I could considering it's a
damn computer. You keep accusing people of gossip. If I have and I have
something to say to you, I do it in here. Personally, I stopped the private
e-mails with you and a most others in here. Can you say the same? When I do
happen to private e-mail or receive one from someone in here, rest assured,
you ARE NOT the subject JB, nor is anyone else in here.
This might help ya, it helps me quite often.

FWIT I plan on replying to any and all your post with something from the big

manipulate those words. I should have done this a long time ago with you and
Blue. (SMILE) And it helps me, too.

Listen up and I'll try to explain as clearly as I can the thoughts
that are now in my head.
If I wanted to say to you via this NG, " Gail, I think you an idiot".
I would speak directly to you by posting this comment in either a
reply to something you've posted here or start a thread, maybe
entitled "Ping Gail". In my books, that's as much as I could do on the
internet to speak f2f to you.
However, if I said to Blue Moon, as you've mentioned him, via this NG,
"I think Gail a bloody fool", I'd be not talking directly to you but
rather just gossiping about you. (NB: gossip (ÈgsIp) n. 1. casual
and idle chat: to have a gossip with a friend.
2. a conversation involving malicious chatter or rumours about other
people (Source: Collins English Dictionary). Probably if you saw that
post to Blue, you'd be annoyed, and, IMO, you'd have every right to
be. ! Similarly, I have every bit as much right as you, Rosie and
anyone else here does to get annoyed when folk start gossping about
me. Rarely, do I.
Furthermore, you have every right to tell me that my talking about you
to Blue has annoyed you. In return, if I came to believe that by
gossiping about you to Blue I had done you a wrong, then, if I wanted
to be a good little AAer, I'd have to make ammends to you. For me,
in this instance, my ammend to you could involve apologising to you
for having been gossiping about you followed by not gossiping about
you again.
If, after reading this post (which is me talking directly to you), you
still do not understand what I'm talking about, then, IMO, maybe for
you enlightenment will come from a power that's greater than myself.
