I would just like to say that the level of the supposedly humorous banter
about gay men and about women using appliances fails to rise to the heights
(or depths) usually reserved for 12 year old boys.

It's not clever, it's not masculine, it's not funny, it's not attractive and
it thus far fails to display any hint of intelligence.

I'm not suggesting that you stop. I'm just suggesting that you are making
yourselves look like a bunch of insecure children.

Oh, and before you bother with your half-hearted and quarter-witted attempts
at making fun of me; yes, I am gay and no, I'm not impressed with the
quality of the discourse. Any skinhead could do as well.

The funny thing is that this is even on topic. I had to go back and
completely redo my 4th step before I was ready to face up to the fact that I
was not what I was presenting to the world, and then come out as a
consequence.

Working the steps is so valuable that normals ought to do it. I don't know
how they can sort things out without a program that would be just like 4
through 12 anyway.

Facing up to the fact that my 4th step hadn't been "rigorously honest" and
then starting over is what gave me the courage to face first myself and then
the world and come out.

I honestly believe that the peace and happiness that I have found would have
been the same whatever my 4th step issues had been, just by facing them
honestly and then acting on what I had found.

That's just a belief, though. The first person testimony is that I found
what I found and I am now glad to be alive. That's a hell of an
improvement.

Thanks for this message Dan. It reinforces for me the simple fact that
without rigorous honesty I could never have achieved what I have in
sobriety. My sponsor reminds me that as important as my sobriety date is,
the date I became willing to be totally honest with myself and other is a
date I should hold as dear.
