You figure you can fake it long enough to remain sober the rest of your life
You tend to refer to any newcomer under 40 as a "kid"
People tell you you're not getting older, you're getting wiser.and you
believe them
You don't get resentful because you can't remember what it is you were angry
about
You wake up feeling like it was the morning after but you haven't been
drinking
Newcomers start to listen to you
Meetings are much more important to you, but you can still sleep through any
speaker
You add "god willing" at the end of all your statements
You begin to relax and feel you can handle any catastrophe
Losing your hair is much less important than losing your sobriety
You've stopped smoking, and you begin to eat more sensibly
You can finally afford all the things you no longer want
Sponsees start giving you advice and sometimes you follow it
Your "sobriety belly" is bigger than your ego
People at meetings are becoming slightly blurry
You are vaguely suspicious of "high bottom" newcomers
When people talk about drugs at meetings you think of penicillin
Sometimes you mix up your sponsees names
Sometimes you forget your own sobriety date
You brag about your sponsee's achievements
You stop looking forward to your anniversary celebrations
You start looking forward to meetings
You start dressing for comfort
People complain about your snoring at meetings
Your back goes out more often than you do

happly joyously and freely sumitted by Morris R.
