I just took my last slug of booze...
I am so tired....Oh God, I am so tired of drinking.
I have tried for 9 years in one way or another to quit.
Please pray for me.

No-one's prayers wll bring about recovery from alcoholism in anyone
who choses to not follow a path taken by others who have sought and
achieved recovery from alcoholism.
JB
Dear Hank - Good luck and will think of you.
It can be done.
Just stick around.
If I could have done it ANYONE can do it!
Do different things from what you used to do. E.g. Go to AA instead of
Bottle store.
Will think of you.
It is not easy but dear God, it is so rewarding getting LIFE as a result.
Kind regards
Mias
15 years clean and sober and enjoying every second!

HANK,
there are many of us who WILL pray for your strength to continue to
"reach out" and seek help.
most of us did NOT just stop drinking, when "we decided it was a
good idea".
have you read any of the BIG BOOK?
start with CHAPTER THREE, it sounds like you will relate to most of
it!
your in my daily prayers hank.................you CAN do this!

Rosie,
Once when Bob asked you why you felt the need to shout, you replied:
"i shout so you can hear me robert................at your age, i
don't want you to miss a thing!
;)"
Your reason for shouting at Hank ?

If you find yourself patiently explaining, at length and in great
detail, some obscure point to someone who isn't even being polite to
you, then you are probably being trolled.

LOL.
Now, back to the subject of recovery from alcoholism.
What's your view on the info contained in "The Doctor's Opinion"
in the BB ? Can we agree that it's info that has been and could again
prove helpful to someone is interested in recovering from alcoholism ?

I will pray for you Hank.
Are you willing to do YOUR part?
Peace
John
I want to tell all of you that I appreciate your kindness,
support, and especially your prayers.
Yes, John, You ALL are in my prayers!
I just got off of work, and usually I would have about four beers
in me by now.
Here I sit...typing...with chips and salsa,
....and a glass of skim milk !
I feel ok right now, but I am sure I will have
much trouble falling asleep....a terrible time.
I think I'll start taking a half hour walk before going to bed
for now on instead of eating.
Thanks again,
Hank

Now, back to the "The Doctor's Opinion" and it's, potential,
helpfulness to someone seeking recovery from alcoholism,:
" The doctor's theory that we have an allergy to alcohol interests
us........................ as ex-problem drinkers, we can say that his
explanation makes good sense. It explains many things for which we
cannot otherwise account.
The doctor writes:
The subject presented in this book seems to me to be of paramount
importance to those afflicted with alcoholic addiction. I say this
after many years' experience as Medical Director of one of the oldest
hospitals in the country treating alcoholic and drug addiction.
We believe, and so suggested a few years ago, that the action of
alcohol on these chronic alcoholics is a manifestation of an allergy;
that the phenomenon of craving is limited to this
class................ These allergic types can never safely use
alcohol in any form at all.........
Once a psychic change has occurred, the very same person who seemed
doomed.......... suddenly finds himself easily able to control his
desire for alcohol, the only effort necessary being that required to
follow a few simple rules.
There are many situations which arise out of the phenomenon of craving
which cause men to make the supreme sacrifice rather than continue the
fight.
The classification of alcoholics ................. is outside the
scope of this book. There are of course the
psychopaths.................. There is the type of man who is
unwilling to admit that he cannot take a drink. There is the type
who always believes that being entirely free of alcohol for a period
of time he can take a drink without danger. There is the
manic-depressive type. Then there are types normal in every respect
except in the effect alcohol has upon them. They are often able,
intelligent, friendly people.
All these, and many others have one symptom in common; they cannot
start drinking without developing the phenomenon of craving. This
phenomenon........ may be the manifestation of an allergy. It has
never been, by any treatment with which we are familiar, permanently
eradicated. The only relief we have to suggest is entire abstinence."
(Source: "Alcoholics Anonymous (3rd ed), pages xxiv - xxviii)
I do not mind saying that Dr Silkworth's theory has helped me make
sense of my drinking behaviour and to also clearly see what I ought to
do in order to achieve permanent relief from my alcoholism.
