View Full Version : Letting go of a resentment

I was trying to decide whether trolls or cross-posters were the lower form
of life. Then I decided that it didn't make a difference because
cross-posting trolls were well below either of them. Then I decided that
none of them one was important enough for me to pick up another load of
resentment to carry around.
I should have enough sobriety and serenity available to just ignore it and
move on. It would be nice, however, if they had actual lives. I guess that
I'll just pray that they find recovery from their condition.

I despise trolls as much as the next guy. I just don't take part in those
kind of threads. Never have done, never will do.

I agree, that's why I made my comments on the issue in separate postings,
not as part of the spammed thread and not cross posted. The people in our
own group have exercised admirable self restraint in not getting drawn into
this troll bait. At the moment there seems to be only one cross posted
thread, so with any luck when this thread dies we will be off this
particular hook for a while.
It's pretty cool that everyone has decided to lay low on this and not
attract their further attention.

JB,
I guess that it is a possibility. I suppose that I was rather counting on
the fact that this thread is cross-posted in 8 different groups, that none
of these people seem to be denizens of this group and that most of the other
groups appear to be flame related or politically related and thus seem more
likely to be their "homegroup."
On further thought, however, mea culpa. Why should I have tempted fate?
Like my sponsor said when I told him the story about the tavern manager who
just got his first year in the program: "what the hell were you doing in a
bar in the first place?"
Why take chances, eh? You're right.

JB,
As the old saying goes: "Make your words soft and sweet because you
never know when you may have to eat them." <LOL> You are, of course
right. After all, how can I argue with me? <grin>

Dan,
The trolls may be pleased to know that their activity has caused
comment ?

JB,
I got pretty steamed when I came back here and found all of the
prodding and flaming going on but I've thought it over and decided
that it isn't my problem. Alcohol is one of my problems but one of
the things that is apparent is that steps 4 through 7 are exactly like
steps 1 through 3 but addressing all of the other failings that were
masked by the drinking. Maybe one (or more) of the people here are
trolls here or in other groups. I don't know. Maybe some of the
other people don't see themselves as being trolls but sometimes act
that way when they are here. Once I decided to overlook it, I'm not
sure that is really much more distracting
than all of the sanctimonious references to "these rooms" that you
repeatedly hear from some of the old timers who are so smug about
their own sobriety. In any event, a person can be a troll and also be
an alcoholic. Hell, we manage to be drunks and every other kind of
asshole.
Even *if* a particular person were busily engaged in building that
hell for themself, it is not incumbent upon me to hand them the bricks
and mix their mortar.
Let it be
Dan

I thought you spoke wisely.
All the best

Note Tommy's post from ARAA in the troll thread, cross posted to here and
everywhere. I hope that hasn't kicked the can over. No wonder ARAA is
infested.
