In a talk Clint H. gave he said, "A guy out in California
used to say, his name is Chuck, 'If I'd had known that
this was going to be by last drink, I would have had
two.'"
I believe he is referring to what Chuck C. said in his
talks, as chronicled in A New Pair of Glasses. In
this book, on pages 88 and 89 I found:
"They told me that to all intents and purposes
I'd been dead; that they'd had a hell of a time
bringing me to, and nobody would ever bring me
to again under those circumstances. And they
told me if they were me, they wouldn't do that
any more!
I did do it again, but the thing I want to tell you
about is this. About twenty-four or thirty-six
hours after they'd brought me to, I was able to
get the old dirty bathrobe on and start walkin'
off this drunk."
I have read this book and I know Chuck C
talks about taking his last drink somewhere.
Does anyone know what page?
Thanks, Les

Closest reference I can find offhand is on page 18:
"... And I said to myself, 'If I ever live to get out of this bed, I will
find A.A.' ...
From that moment of commitment until right now I've never had a drink or
pill."
There are other references too, just can't find them this a.m.... -Fred

It's not the last one that kills us. It's the first one.

Thanks Fred. The one I found is on pages 88 and 89 and the one
you found is on pages 17 and 18. Both places talk about when
Chuck C. is about to "get the program". But I remember reading
that part where his wife gives him his last drink--I just can't
find it.
