HI everyone. i finally got to a meeting today and lo and behold when i
got home there was a message on the machine to call a company i just
applied to with my resume and ive got an interview at 10 am tomorrow.
I just hope im not too shaky and give a good impression. Now
if i get this job i will have some added incentive to stay sober. I
havent worked in 3 months so just getting up in the morning is going
to be hard.I will probably have the sweats tonight and have to go
through the detox thing for a week or so.I'm hoping that if i do get
this job that they won't need me to start right away so i can have a
few days to get my mind clear and start feeling and looking a little
better before i have to start.I wish everyone another great 24
hrs...jim
good luck

Best of luck - I am just starting out looking for work again after a
year - so know a little how you feel.
Drink plenty of fluids today, and get Vit B down you - preferably
thiamine. Honey too to get sugar back in your system. Try getting up
several hours before hand and get ready - and get there well b4 the
interview to give any day sweats time to work out. Maybe tell them you
have a cold too!
Sure they would give you a few days b4 starting - maybe tell you have
family commitments. I'm not suggesting you build a career on lying
please note, but I'm sure that getting the job will be a big help on
your road to recovery.

Sounds like you did a good job. I suspect you are feeling depressed because
you really want the job and even though you felt you did well, can't relax
until you know.

Had a few "tests" lately. Friends calling me up drunk asking me if im
going to "church",meaning AA and cant seem to stop bumping into
drinking buddies in my neighborhood.Good thing is i havent been
tempted to drink. Now comes the part where i realize i have no sober
friends, been through this before. I realize ive got to make new sober
friends which im sure some of you know is not easy. Ive known some of
these people 20 years....jim

Hi Jim,
I'm sure many of us can relate to this. I used to work with two people who
were TT - and I thought they were the pits. No fun, Goody Two Shoes. Now
the tables are turned and it's not very nice. "You're no fun any more, Deb"
Yeah, right, I'll go and get drunk to amuse you all and wreck my life in the
process. My previous prejudgement wasn't very nice either.
Friendship takes a while to develop - you can't just go out and buy some new
friends. "Real" friends will stand by you. I've spent some time on my own,
which I used to hate because I despised myself, but have just started to
mix a bit with people whose life does not revolve around the bottle. Not
"friends" as such, but I'm getting there. One day at a time!

Thanks Stuart . And Deb you are right about making friends it takes
time.Went to a meeting today and new a couple of people. One of them i
new from about ten years ago in this pub i used to go to he is still
sober and looks alot better than he did then. He used to have a mouth
full of rotten teeth and now they are fixed.Day five tomorrow.Boy did
i have the sweats last night, but am starting to feel much better i
guess thats all the poisons coming out.Being sober is great i just
hope i can keep it up.
jim
Have you ever thought that these drunk friends might actually have been
confronted with their own problem by what you are doing.
Keep up with the good work.

Thanks very much and i will definately post on here the minute i get
or should i say if i get the job.Off to a meeting tonight.I read a
small article in the paper yesterday that says Tobey Maguire the star
of Spiderman is in the program. He says "You could be brainless and do
it.You do what they ask you to do and {stuff} happens.Your life gets
better. Your life changes." Is that ever true. Take care..
