I don't want a response from Rosie...I know her mantra.....I'm a total booze
hound.....I'm a probation officer....a terrible history of chemical
dependency in mh family...I'm drinking more and more and more every day. I
don't drink and drive...so...I'm socially expectable...but I am drinking
myself to death...is there anything other than the coffee
drinking...cigarette smoking AA for us?

Aside from AA meetings not getting a mention in the AA program,
http://anonpress.org/bb/Page_59.htm you prefer drinking yourself to
death, than abstaining from coffee at a non smoking AA meeting?
One of the great freedoms of alcoholism recovery for me, was the
realisation I don't need to drink anything at all, merely because
others are drinking.

JJ, chronic alcohol use alters the body's ability to inhibit stress.
You have a high stress job as a probation officer. You need to be
monitored and med assisted by your doctor. Don't attempt this on your
own, because withdrawal from alcohol causes damage to the brain as well.

But, Rosie isn't drinking.

At least you admit it.

At least you realize that you are.

If you are drinking yourself to death, you are drinking and driving. Do you
realize how long alcohol stays in your system? You are probably still
intoxicated when you leave for work. Maybe Neuro can help explain how long
alcohol stays in ones system after the last drink. I know that one beer
stays for two hours, 2 beers for four, etc.

I had to go to any length to learn how to stop my drinking. That included
AA. But then, I love coffee and cigs. Is that the real reason you don't want
to go to AA or is there other reasons? I know a lot of people are afraid
they will see someone they know or that they don't believe in a God or
Higher Power, etc. Do you have any other reasons other than the coffee and
cigs?
Being a probation officer, have you ever heard of MRT? It is a program that
probation offers here in Tennessee. You might want to check into something
like that. Anger management is another good one offered here. Those programs
helped me, along with AA.
All the best to you,
Gail

Don't want to hear from rosie? What's a matter boychik the evil rosie gonna
tell you to get your ass to AA and you know that AA is gonna fuck with your
drinking?
You could listen to HP/GA the current anti-AA around here or another of the
people like him. No wait there are no others around like him, the others
have all somehow well disappeared.
"...death..." yeah it is about life and death. Get your self to a
non-smoking meeting and take a pass on the coffee before your become a
"client" of one of your co-workers and maybe a resident of your local DOC.
Hopefully do this before you harm one of the innocents around you, or some
stranger you meet with your car.
Good Luck JJ

JJ,
Are you the same guy who last summer posted:
"This is for the AA crowd and the nay sayers. I've been sober now for
almost
three months. I can honestly say that I have absolutely no cravings
whatsoever. I have always been a all or none kind of guy. When I took
up
biking, I ended up riding many miles a day. Running turned into
marathons....etc. Can you just have an addictive personality without
actually being alcoholic? Rational Recovery seems so right for me. It
really
makes sense".

If so, what do you think it was about Rational Recovery that made it
be not the right program for you ?

How about insanity? That's definitely an option where heavy drinking
is concerned.
Have you been to AA meetings? Most meetings I encounter are
non-smoking because many insurance policies won't allow smoking in the
building.
Why would others drinking coffee be a problem?
