Hi there,
I was wondering if you could re-post your info and links about B6/B12. I
looked but could not find the post(s).
Thanks so much.

Hi Christine, I was thinking about you earlier today, and sent a good
thought your way! : )
If you mean the post about the birth control pills, it's in your thread
titled: "Quick ??" Here's the excerpt below, if this is the one you
mean. There's also info there mentioning that the birth control pills
raise copper, lower zinc, change your metabolism, lower mood, and that
you need zinc and B-complex to inhibit stress. That's why I mentioned
the B injections when your mood took that big plunge.
"B-vitamins. As several B-vitamins are affected negatively by birth
control pill use, a B-complex supplement is suggested, especially
vitamin B6 if depression is present.
Copper and Zinc. Copper is generally increased... Copper and zinc tend
to antagonistic, so an elevated copper level will result in a lower zinc
status."

Thanks, this is helpful, but I was thinking of a post that I don't even think I
was a part of the thread (just call me Lurking McGee). It had nothing to do
with the Pill, but more specifics about B6/B12 and, I think, endorphins?
Maybe?
I don't know, but any more info/links you could share would be cool. I suppose
I could do the searching on my own, eh??? LOL - I'm not very good at this new
fangled computer stuff ;)

Here's the Radiant Recovery site index link. I did excerpt some
articles on beta-endorphins, alcohol detox from there. There's info on
low serotonin, low endorphins, and how to raise them - that's probably
the info you mean.

While on the Radiant Recovery site, I thought you might be interested in
the birth control pill/sugar craving excerpt, so here it is below,
followed by a B-complex excerpt I once posted from the Health Recovery
Center site. The endorphins and B6 are needed to inhibit stress.
There's lots to sort through on those sites...

IS THERE A LINK BETWEEN SUGAR SENSITIVITY AND BIRTH CONTROL PILLS?
The answer is yes.
The contra-indications list for oral contraceptives indicates that these
medications contribute to impaired glucose tolerance and increased
insulin resistance.
If you are on birth control pills and having a hard time with sugar
cravings, you are not crazy. The vulnerability you naturally have can be
made worse by the pill.
Defects in carbohydrate metabolism in oral contraceptive users without
apparent metabolic risk factors. J Clin Endocrinol Metab, 1994
Nov;79(5):1277-83 Watanabe RM, Azen CG, Roy S, Perlman JA, Bergman RN.
Excerpt:
"The B-complex vitamins are essential to mental and emotional well-
being. They cannot be stored in our bodies, so we depend entirely on our
daily diet to supply them. B vitamins are destroyed by alcohol, refined
sugars, nicotine, and caffeine--the very substances that most alcoholics
consume almost to the exclusion of everything else. Small wonder that
deficiencies develop."
