Laughter
But we aren't a glum lot.
If newcomers could see no joy or fun in our existence,
they wouldn't want it.
We absolutely insist on enjoying life. . .
So we think cheerfulness and laughter
make for usefulness.
Outsiders are sometimes shocked
when we burst into merriment
over a seemingly tragic experience out of the past.
But why shouldn't we laugh?
We have recovered,
and have been given the power to help others.

At a retreat a few years ago a guy dressed up n a goofy costume for
the evening talent show. On his back he painted "P.132." I asked
him what that meant, and he said Doctor Paul O. told him about it
and gave him the courage to do it. (Doctor Paul ("Doctor, Addict,
alcoholic" from the big book, p447 etc.) has since passed away,
every morning he'd close his Attitude Adjustment meetings with, "If
you don't enjoy the day, it's your own damn fault!")
