View Full Version : Focus on the Solutions

Julie

To all,
I'm having more and more problems dealing with these continual useless
discussions of what people don't like about AA and other recovery programs.
Two things I challenge the group with:

Can we focus on the solutions here instead of the million failures everyone
has experienced or that they fear?

Is it possible to share the gratitude you have today for being sober or is
that to freakin uplifting to be allowed here?

Ready to leave this dysfunctional insanity,
Julie

Hey, I quit drinking some years ago and haven't really had problems
since. What's next subject.

I find this NG as it is to be very beneficial to my recovery. If
*you* have a problem with what goes on here, maybe*you* need to ask
your God to grant you the serenity to accept the things you cannot
change, courage to change the things you can and wisdom to know the
difference..

Doesn't everyone here share whatever they consider important to them.

PS:

Julie,

I've no doubt that AA has saved your life. In the spirit of
friendship, I suggest to you that if you practice the 12 Steps
every time anyone here gets on your nerves, you may find one day that
you no longer give anyone here any power to disturb your peace of
mind.

Yours

JB

julie,
with judicial use of your killfile, and responding only to topics of
a positive or helpful nature, this newsgroup isn't so
bad.................

i have enjoyed many of your posts, and those of mias and others.
what is on your agenda today? how are you feeling?

i just got back from shopping and taking a long drive with my
husband.....................there truly isn't much more enjoyable
than taking a slow drive through the lake country areas in
wisconsin.
(really puts it all in perspective)
if the weather clears up, we will be going out on the boat just "to
float" around, with some recovery friends!

Would you care to lead by example, rather by than telling everyone
else what they should do without actually doing it?

"Admitting he may be somewhat at fault, he is sure that other people
are more to blame. He becomes angry, indignant, self-pitying. What is
his basic trouble? Is he not really a self-seeker even when trying to
be kind? Is he not a victim of the delusion that he can wrest
satisfaction and happiness out of this world if he only manages well?
Is it not evident to all the rest of the players that these are the
things he wants? And do not his actions make each of them wish to
retaliate, snatching all they can get out of the show? Is he not, even
in his best moments, a producer of confusion rather than harmony?"

No one is on my nerves JB. I just thought we might be able to share
something called a "solution." You know a postive thread into recovery and
what worked for you. You are still not on topic here.

Thats my new agenda Rosie. Be positve and share what recovery has given us.
If I post the topic, then the comments should be on the topic, and not some
aurguenmentive dribble.
If someone doesnt like it they can start their own threads!

So suggesting the 12 steps is not on topic by you? That's a surprise.

If you want to argue start your own topic and those who want to continuse
these distructive threads can play eith you all they want. This is a topic
I started if I dont think its on topic then its not.
Your comment by the way, has nothing to do with "Focus on the Solutions"
either. Dont you have anything positive you can share with the group that
you have learned about Recovery (a solution you found)?
Baffled by the waste of energy,

Ooooh my, you have a *LOT* to learn about usenet, Julie, and on this
evidence you're heading for a lot of pain in learning it.

Lesson 1: any individual owns and controls Fuck All on usenet.

I find that not drinking improves my outlook on the world. I believe that
facing ones fears is what recovery is about. Every time I try something
that doesn't work, is it truly a failure? I only fail when I give up
trying.

I am glad that I was given the chance to find a new way to live without
drugs or alcohol. Some people never are able or willing to admit to the
problem. I am thankful that I am able to do that much.
