I think it might have to do with all the years of denial, that we were realy
having a good time the entire time. I think if the last time I poked myself
in the eye with a stick, that I needed surgery and rehab, that I wuldn't get
the urge to do it again. But drinking had a postive feeling and the effects
were from something else.

who knows. One thing I do know, if you get that feeling, do some service
work.

I know exactly what you mean, that's why after meetings I invite people out
for coffee. On Sundays some of us AA's and NA's go to the movies. you
don't have to drink to be social. And if you spend enough time, you can
find out that there is more to life than shallow bar conversation. I could
care less about the cubs, or a WMD (whatever that is) but I do care how you
feel today. Go to a bar and ask the guy next to you how he feels about not
seeing his children in years. Ask him what his goals and aspirations are,
and how you can help him to achieve them.

I didn't get sober to sit around in a bar and talk about baseball to a bunch
of drunks, whilst sipping on a soda. I bet if you tried it you would see.
go ahead, try it. I bet in half an hour you would either be drinking, or
looking for the exit.

next time you see some people sitting around talking about how it is better
now, listen for a while, and find out how they did it. then you can bring
up the Cubs.
