Reflections for Beginners
from
'Hour To Hour - The First 30 Days'
- by Shelly Marshall
the author of 'Day By Day' & other Meditation Books

Abstinence, honesty, and the willingness "to turn it over" are
the only ways to fight the Four Horsemen of mind-affecting
chemicals: Terror, Bewilderment, Frustration, and Despair.

Let me know that the battle is no longer mine if I practice
the Third Step to the best of my ability.

As far as I understand the Steps, Step 3 does not address either the
subject of abstinence or honesty. If my thinking is wrong, I hope
that someone will explain why this is so.

Best regards

Doesn't mention anything about "turning it over" either.

Sometimes amazes me how AAs can complicate this stuff. I had a
discussion last night with a guy who insisted that the second step is
somehow defining "insanity". I've still no idea how he could possibly
reach such a conclusion, but if it keeps him sober to think of Step 1
that way, I guess that's okay.
