Best books?

What are the best books out there for alcoholics?

I've heard about the Big Book (available online).

I've also had the book "Aspirin, Band-AIDS and Tender Loving Care: An
Alcoholic Doctor's Alibiography" recommended to me, especially for the
chapter on how to get the most out of AA.

Any other books I might want to look at?

Me too. I was given that book, and bought the big book, and the twelve
steps. I cross reference all 3.

Re: Best books?

I see "Living Sober"
http://www.whalenbrothers.com/sg/aat...ber/lsober.htm as fear driven
dogma, generally lauded by alcohol abusers demonstrably lacking trust in
"God," and/or their own commitment to/capacity for recovery.

Re: Best books?

yes. Living Sober. keeping it simple

yes to the other one too. Aspirin, bandaids and TLC was a life saver.
The part on getting the most from AA took away the fear and got me to
the meetings. But get it for more than just that. the prose, poetry
and random thoughts chapter is something to read when your feeling not
so good

Its short but I wish it had an index

I agree ... it helped me tremendously through my first two weeks and continues
to do so. I go to a "Living Sober" meeting once a week - it helps me so much!

I also picked up the 24hour book, which helps me remember to get on my knees,
ask for help, meditate, etc. I keep it right on top of my alarm clock so it is
the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning.
