May I ask--did you see a doctor prior to quitting, or did you stop on your own? I also appreciate the list of groups: I was completely unaware that Smart, LSR, and MM existed. I Googled all. MM really caught my attention, but it's too early for me to think about moderation. I like Smart's approach, but I'll probably try AA first as it is so accessible. Thanks again. Best, mp |

I was just honest with him about what was happening and he was very helpful. Usually, a doctor will give you something to help take the edge off for a few days. What was really helpful for me however was to begin doing the things I had always intended. This could be social changes, job, or just trying to persue a passion. While AA is effective for many, I think that there are different strokes for different folks. Good luck. I think a good first step is asking the basic honest questions that you are. |
