i actually helped start one of those ALANO clubs many years ago, and we were VERY careful NOT to imply that AA was
connected/supporting it.

i cannot account for the article you read, i can only advise you to check the facts with GSO.
you will find, if you enter one of the ALANO clubs, (and they are all over the country) lots of AA literature, logo's,
pictures of bob and bill, etc.
each and every group is allowed to PLASTER the walls with that stuff if they wish.
clubs, just like "AA inspired " jewelry, t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc. are NOT affiliated with AA in anyway.
sorry!

Is this because of one of AA's wisest traditions No six Rosie?

"An AA Group ought never endorse finance, or lend the AA name to any related
facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property and
prestige divert us from our primary purpose".

The club houses are not owned by AA but the AA group which uses a room in
the club to hold their meetings pays a (monthly or anually rent) to the
club owners for use of the room, & facilities etc for holding their
meetings.

Well, the Grapevine sure isn't.

This is nit-picking. This whole argument started about
the slogan, "If you don't bend your knees, you will bend
your elbow."
Then it progressed to the Camel poem.
It was a discussion about the religiosity of A.A..
But someone diverted the argument to quibbling about what
is legally A.A..

Defining A.A. in a legal fashion that is so narrow that
nothing but the A.A.W.S. corporation in New York qualifies
as the real A.A. is an excercise in pointlessness.
The real A.A. is what the A.A. members make it on a day-in,
day-out basis.
