program help

I'm a 52 yr old alcoholic male, unemployed at present living way out in the
woods at present. As I can seldom make it the 30+ miles to a meeting.
I do have my computer/on-line. I come here and read the posts and another
program related group.
I moved here from Texas where I had a home group, alot of meetings,
sponsor's, friends, etc. Since leaving my support group and friends. I've
found myself relapsing and have even laid a week in the hospital with dt's
etc. Very near death as the doctor even had my wife call what family I still
have that they need get up there as they couldn't stablize my blood
pressure.
I'm curious as to what I can do, other than read my Big Book and little 24
hour a day daily reader.

any information help appreciated.

Jeez, do you truly think relying on meetings, books and usenet posts won't
make you crazier than you already are?

Why not try actually taking the 12 steps?

The big book is a gread slleeping pill. It doesn't stop you drinking. You
need to distract yourself and i mean find a challenging hobby. Find
something you do really badly and work on learning to do it well but it has
to be something you're interested in.

Re: program help

I could stop any time! I just couldn't stay stopped until I actually
did what they did 70 years ago. It happens to be written in the first
164 pages of that (Gread?) sleeping pill!!

Re: program help

Hi Webby,

I can relate to your predicament!

I had read it, studied it, and memorized much of it . . . but I
couln't stay sober until I actually lived it (word for word). If I can
be of any help with your recovery - I AM here for you. Email me if you
want.

Re: program help

It's a bigger sleeping pill than the bible; and that never helped me either.

Thanks for the advise: I'm working the steps. On the first step! Daily!
