liver damage
Please please could someone help me with advice about liver disease. I have
been reading various websites about it and am absolutely scared to death. I need info from people who have been there please. I have been a heavy drinker for some time, and although I have had elevated blood tests it hasn't stopped me. However recently I have been drinkng excessively even by my standards, and am now getting scary symptoms. The main one being an ache in my stomach just below my right hand side ribs. I also have pains in my back which feel like regular back pain, but have been persistant and move about a bit but is mainly on my right hand side of my body and slightly to the rear at about rib level. I am also vomiting, even though I have not had a drink for a couple of days now. It is a clear liquid and I am guessing it is bile. Please please could somebody tell me if they had these symptoms and whether the problem is liver disease. I am hoping that it is just my body still flushing away the toxins of the past. But I am really scared. Sorry for the gory details Chris |

Re: liver damage
A friend of mine died over the weekend from all of the drugs and
alcohol she consumed. I didn't make a mad dash to the liquor cabinet. If you're serious about wanting to quit the alcohol then talk about it with your doctor. chris wrote: > Please please could someone help me with advice about liver disease. Re: liver damage
Yes do need help to stop. However I have not had a drink in 3 days now and
the pains are subsiding. Don;t know if I am out of the woods yet though. Talked to an ex Alcoholic (if you can ever be an ex alchy) and he told me a few home truths. Now I have a shoulder to cry on, I am hoping he will support me as he has been there and done that. Thats experience a doctor can't replace Thanks for all that replied. It sounds serious. I do know that if you've been drinking heavey non stop for years that you shouldn't stop on your own. It could kill you. |

I use to hate drinking to get the pain over only to throw up a good buzz then I hated to start over . I had to puke first to get all the nasty bile out of my stomach from the day before. Sometimes I had to stick my finger down my throat to toss up the big hunks. > Please please could somebody tell me if they had these symptoms and whether > the problem is liver disease. Your likely on the way to cirrhosis .. unless your liver AST tests are above 2000 or so your quite there yet. Have you really had blood tests recently ? > I am hoping that it is just my body still > flushing away the toxins of the past. No.. Your body is telling you it's time to seek help and quit drinking. > But I am really scared. > Chris You know Chris . I had the same symptoms and worries you have .. My liver pains were due to inflammed liver .. I looked like shit, felt like shit .. and it kept getting worse and I kept getting scarier ... but the next day/week/ would start all over. 1. You need to see a doctor. Do you have medical insurance ? This is covered as *being sick*. 2. Do you mental health/ addiction coverage ? Have your doctor submit a form to your insurance seeking inpatence rehab. 6 weeks off .. You get well .. You get your life. You've been distracted by addiction and your killing yourself. You can lurk AA .. but if it was easy .. everyone could quit. Even if you don't have coverage .. $12000 rehab is less than death or lawyer/ court fee when you kill a family of 4. 2 years + . Changed my life . Happy, sober . Alive. |

There are many symptoms to live desease but what you're experiencing are indicating problems with your liver and kidneys. I had the pains and the vomiting. I also was unable to eat, got confused a lot, itchy skin was a bitch too. I went to see my doctor and he gave me ten months to live if i did not stop drinking as I had schlerosis and pneumonia. I couldn't stop on my own so I went to AA and stayed sober. one by one the symptoms diappeared. within three months the liver desease and phumonia had gone and I felt good but I couldn;t start drinking again as I no longer had the tolerence for it. Lay off the booze and get help if you need it. > > > Sorry for the gory details > > Chris > |

As perfecting alcoholics, we're more afraid of living than dying. ew... I might feel pain while I drink myself to death. I better drink more to numb the pain. Assuming you have liver disease, you will die quicker if you keep drinking. You _may_ recover if you stop. -- http://www.oretek.com If you see weird responses, please do not reply to them.
