Re: Is it safe to just stop?

take it easy shelley and cut out all caffeine after noon.
try getting some exercise, walking after dinner?
make sure to call your physician, if you feel any other physical problems.

It's funny you should mention sweating, as I woke this morning covered in
sweat. I thought maybe it was warm in the house because of the heating but
when I got up it wasn't on! Last night I took a Nytol tablet and slept much
better. Thank you everyone for your comments, it really helps to know that
there are people out there who can empathise.

Sick with it Shelley. Everyday sober is a triumph. Cliche I know but hey.

It's really funny, because I used hear people say that and get Sooo pissed
off! It took a few years or misery, but I realized that 'stark raving
sober' is a poor quality of life, and to avoid that, as well as drinking, I
needed help.

I feel like I'm doing okay. I'm not feeling joyous exactly but it's good
waking up in the morning without needing to down a pint of water! Still
sweating a bit in the night.
What sort of help did you get, Ocean View?
I tried counselling but the advice to cut down gradually was no use to me, I
needed to just stop, and that's what I've done. Last Friday night I drank
and woke up feeling so awful it put me off doing it again. I was ill most of
the day. I'm about to go to bed, and when I wake up I will have spent a week
without a drink.
