Hey Robert M.
Just wondering about you after the cyclone. I hope you are ok. Did you get
the 180 mile winds in your part? How about your yacht? Is it safer to leave it in the water or take it out and store it somewhere? Just hope you, your friends, and everything around you is ok. -- Gail |

Did you get > the 180 mile winds in your part? Thanks, Gail. Wind here was estimated at 180 kilometers per hour, which is only about 111 miles per hour. (Although that's still the fastest my yacht has sailed since I've owned her;-) > How about your yacht? Is it safer to leave it in the water or take it out > and store it somewhere? Possibly as much luck as good management, I chose to leave her swinging on her mooring. Only damage I could see was torn eyelet holes in the boom tent, which stayed in place enough to keep the cockpit (and bilge) dry anyway. > Just hope you, your friends, and everything around you is ok. Only had the phone (and power) connected a couple of hours ago, lots of neighbouring districts probly wont have phones or electricity for weeks, so catching up with folk will take a while. That AAer friend who used to crew with me is ok, so is his fishing boat. Seems most in God's waiting room are ok, some went inland, but the storm followed them there, and not all have arrived back to greet the next cyclone heading roughly in this direction, cyclone Wati.
