Any body want a support buddy?
Im looking for some someone M/F that wants to give support to slow down
or stop drinking. I used to drink 12-15 drinks at night after work. I have no major problems. l have some stress ect. I now drink 6 drinks daily. But my Dr. Said my liver count is a little high, I have general anxiety. I only drink at night. But he wants me to cut down to no more than 3 a day. Well just seeing if anyone would be interested in honest talk and trying to cut down. If so let me know here. Im a caring person. I just am looking for someone who might be willing to share this cutting phase. No AA here. So Just looking for a slow down. Anyone interested let me know. Thank you ,,, Dan / |

Thank you ,,, Dan > No AA here? Dan, on reading the header, it should be clear this is, at least nominally, an alcoholism group. Not to worry, all is not lost. If any are offended here, it's undoubtedly by their own choice. Nevertheless, I suggest you try alt.recovery.from-12-steps. I'll even xpost your request there for you. Be interested to see if the dedicated arfers are as expert at engaging in ongoing email support of notions they propose there, as they are at opposition to ongoing support of notions they oppose here. Has to do with quitting without aa and moderation management. Like i said i don't condone the site i wouldn't use it for my recovery. I looked at it out of curiosity and it may be what your looking for. I'll probably get flamed bringing it up. We always have interesting AA, non AA debates here. My recovery may or may not involve AA, still unsure at present time so i'm staying neutral with the subject. No doubt you will be flamed wanting to do it your way, not AA, happens everytime. But i can tell you definitely are sincere so stick around post some keep an open mind, try not to get too offended on some others opins. You should find this newsgroup interesting at the least, helpful at the most. Whatever happens good luck to you. Me myself i'm an alcoholic in lurk mode. I am presently not in recovery so take my advice any which way you like. Personally i'll prob end up back at the AA tables when i do find my sobriety again. Bryan |

Thank you ,,, Dan > DD DDD, There is an online support group, Moderation Management, in which most members are doing exactly what you are doing -- they find they are drinking to much, and so they drink less. The URL is: http://moderation.org/onlinegroups.shtml There are also a few MM-related discussion groups listed at: http://moderation.org/relatedgroups.shtml There is an MM "chat room" at: http://www.angelfire.com/trek/mmchat/ At this point, there is probably no reason you want to get into a debate about AA, so the above links are probably the best. Also, feel free to email me any time at KenRagge <<<at>>> morerevealed.com. I was in AA-based treatment twice for "alcoholism" 20 years ago but left AA and drink moderately. Has to do with quitting without aa and moderation management. Bryan, Actually, morerevealed.com has much more to do with the grotesque failure of AA and other 12-Step groups to work at much more than simply gaining new members. The main reference to Moderation Management is to their list of therapists. It was put on the main page because they work with both people who wish to moderate and who wish to abstain. They are perhaps the only safe place if someone is looking for a therapist to avoid "two hatters," AA members who will use their position to 'til the black soil of hopelessness' to gain new members for AA. The last thing someone who wishes to quit or moderate needs is someone to "suggest" (often as a hypnotist does) that all their efforts are hopeless. > > Like i said i don't condone the site i wouldn't use it for my recovery. That is good because it simply isn't a "recovery" website. It is a website pointing out the numerous problems with the 12-Step groups. > I looked at it out of curiosity and it may be what your looking for. I'll probably get flamed bringing it up. If you do stick around DD DDD, rest assured that the AA members will "lovingly" do their best to convince you that you are diseased, Powerless and will die without lifetime commitment to AA. > > You should find this newsgroup interesting at the least, helpful at the most. > > Whatever happens good luck to you. Re: Any body want a support buddy?
Ken - What's your deal and why do you hate so transparently? I've been
lurking and posting the entire 6 months of my sobriety and I've yet to see anyone post anything resembling "you will die unless you go to AA for the rest of your miserable life." We're trying to embrace abstinence from alcohol. Someone like DD DDD who blatantly wants to moderate and has no desire to "recover" probably won't be well received in a "recovery" newsgroup. And you're starting to wear thin, at least for me. You claim to enjoy a drink now and then so obviously, you're not addicted. So do you have any reason other than financial gain, for hanging out in an "addiction" newsgroup?
