My 21st Birthday- Never Forget It

Today was my birthday. I cried all night. I spent my 21st birthday listening
to dad pound on their bedroom door- mum was intoxicated and locked dad out.
All he wanted to do was get in to get changed, but she wouldnt budge. Dad
eventually gave up and kicked the door in, completely distroying the
handle/lock. They broke out into an argument yelling and screaming it lasted
for 4 hours. I havent been out of my room yet- I'm scared to.

Paul,
You are 21. Is there a reason that you haven't moved out?

Hi Dan
I cant afford to move out. I am a full time university student and work only
a Sunday. My weekly income is $95. Which i pay $50 rent and the rest is for
my car and uni costs. Its really hard.

Hi Paul,
Have you considered getting in touch with Al-Anon? You can't change
your parents behavior, but you can get some help in dealing with it for
yourself. You aren't alone in living in a house with out-of-control people.
Also, have you considered on-campus housing? Have you contacted the
campus counseling service? Are you REALLY sure that you can't afford the
time to pick up an extra few nights work to be able to afford some sort
of room-mate situation?
I know that school can be the equivalent of a full-time job,
especially with a challenging major, and with the desire to get the best
grades you can, but many people have gone to school full-time and had
even full-time jobs. I personally don't know how they have done it, but
it is possible to work more than one day a week while going to school.

jesus christ dan his post had nothing to do with
with why he still lives at home. Besides it's the
norm these days of ages. You go to college work
parttime, and even you get your degree you don't
always get a decent job right away and your racked
up with debt by then.
