Sigh
I just thought I'd update the group. My husband resumed drinking
again shortly after my mother's funeral in May and has been going at it with both barrels since. He lost another job this past week because of it. Today is his birthday. I'm afraid if something doesn't happen to make him see the light he'll be dead within a year. I know there is nothing I can do about it or make him stop. ----- Kim/Dreamspinner3 Visit My Homepage: http://members.tripod.com/dreamspinner3/ |

I sure can relate to what you are feeling right now. My son is exactly like your husband. For me, I am now seeing how I enabled my son to carry on with his drinking and the behaviors that go along with it. He moved back to E. TN. with his alcoholic dad about three months ago. I have not had this kind of peace of mind in a long long time. I didn't realize just how having him here affected me. I also had to go there and get his truck. Silly me bought him a new truck last year with his promise to keep a job, not drink, and pay for it. He is furious with me right now. He just can't seem to comprehend why I would get it back if I and my husband are paying for it and he is still drinking. I love both my children very much. I have tried to make up for their past with money, then apologies for not being a good mother or not being there for them when they were growing up. I feel I have done my part to mend our relationships. I have apologized all I can. I can't help it if they want to continue with their resentments towards me. All I can do now is tell them I love them, yet it is getting even harder for me to even talk on the phone or be around them. Right now, for my sanity and peace of mind, I am at the point of not reading their e-mails or talking to them on the phone. I really am sick of them. Doesn't mean I love them less. I had to make some decisions and then do it. I know that if my son loses another job he isn't coming back here ever. He can sit in a half-way house or whatever. It is hard for me, but I believe that he is going through what he has to go through to get him to the point, if ever, that he is sick of drinking and sick of what it has done to him. I pray he will one day, but I have to take care of me now. You may need to think about what you need to do for your sanity and peace of mind and let God do the rest. So far, it is working for me. I get a little stronger every day by letting God do what I was, and still try to do sometimes. ![]() Take care of you, Gail |
