Hi to all who might remember me from bout 18 months ago

X-MSMail-Priority: Normal
X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2600.0000
X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2600.0000

I gave up drinking and smoking shortly followed.

I still have the occasional drink but maybe just a couple of glasses of wine
now compared to 4 bottles at a time.
I have been off the cigs 1 year 4 months.

I posted at the time that I had bipolar and indeed still do. I have mood
swings even during times when I don't drink for months at a time.

My general health is now good though. Not drinking much has made my bipolar
easier to treat but it has not gone away. I have removed one of the main
complications in my treatment.

I follow the group every day and love all the in house fighting. It
re-enforces why I don't go for group therapy. You guys are so funny
though.....you cheer me up.

I will continue lurking

deb,
please don't think that group therapy is ANYTHING like this
group.........................and use that as an excuse not to go!
i hope you will able to quit drinking all together
soon...................the treatment of BI-POLAR is much more effective
WITHOUT booze in the system at all.

Group therapy. Hmmmmmm....

1. Talking to a group of drinking normals about your drinking is a waste of
time. They just don't get it. IMHO, that's why AA immediately appealed to
folks like us.

2. If Bipolar is your primary diagnosis, medication is the best and perhaps
only treatment. Talking to bunch of neurotics about rage is probably a waste
of time, too.

If you think you can drink occasionally and not to excess, you may be right.
No, I would never say this to someone abstaining. Since you are not
abstaining you may not be ready to do that.

Mike (the other Bipolar drunk)
