Symptoms of withdrawal?

Hi All,

I am currently trying to quit drinking. I was up to around 8-10 bottles of
beer a night, every night...one directly after the other...until I would
pass out. I weigh about 125 lbs.

Recently, I have stopped cold turkey. I have been mostly been experiencing
horrible night sweats, clenching teeth, drowsiness and nausea.

Are these common withdrawal symptoms? How long can I expect this to last and
can anyone recommend anything that I can get OTC that might alleviate some
of these problems?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Kai

The only drugs that alleviate withdrawal symptoms will are
prescription drugs ie opiates and Benzodiazepines.

Lucky you! Yeah, "normal" symptoms. Take one you'll feel a lot better.

yes, they're normal, and will last up to three days (you may get
depression mild to severe for a coupla days after and some anxiety but
that too will pass - start eating as much and as soon as you can, even
if you can't manage much eat what u can and build up)

The puking and sweats should stop after a few days...
Meanwhile try to eat as much as you can.. and try to hold it down for as
long as possible..
You will get some anxiety and perhaps panic attacks but this will pass..
For me a quadruple dose of St Johns Wort helped this.
Also take some multi vitamins and some extra B vitamins.
Take some time off work... I know I couldn't function with the total lack of
sleep I experienced..

Also might consider vitamins and chocolate.
