Hitting Bottom
"Why all this insistence that AA's must hit bottom first?"... 12X12
Because the average rationalizing, self-centred alcoholic will do VERY LITTLE to practice the AA principles unless he/she has hit bottom first.. If anyone wants to poke fun at someone else poking fun at the irrational thinking processes of the practicing alcoholic, I say three words..Jails, Institutions, Death. That's where we end up. Here we got a guy who can't/won't get his ass to a meeting because of his "nerves". This same guy said he almost got "caught" drinking and driving. As if his biggest problem would have been getting "caught' selfish/sel-centred attitude. I have had the wonderful experience of visiting a friend, a practicing alcoholic. I him dead on his toilet, with a beer on the bathroom counter, half finished. He had been dead for a week or so, and had shit his underpants when he died. I do not pull punches to coddle those who are spouting stupidity.. |

You know, that's a very common and --actually-- very realistic concern! If you're serious and not joking around; I can tell you this and probably a few other things you need to know. Stay out of other people's business, make friends fast, do your time don't let the time you do, and don't let anybody push you around. But, actually, it will involve a lot of boring shit, like, trustee work and watching TV and sleeping. It's just another part of society. People in prison are the same as everyone you'd normally run into in every day existence. Only difference is, the people that you run into in prison are people who like to rape, pillage and steal. Self defense lessons next! -- "don't ya worry, we'll all float on alright" MMMMouse http://scottwitherspoon.blogspot.com/ http://www.geocities.com/woogawooga99 |

Should I just act thick??? Thomas |

Do them favours. just kidding! If you'rean alcoholic, you won't have trouble finding friends. And some of them can brew some pretty decent swill! Prison is like warfare. You make friends with the guards and cellmates. Don't associate with the homosexuals. Just stay out of trouble! Doing time isn't the end of the world. It actually might do you some good! There are millions of resources out there for the inmate. I live in a country where a high percentage of the citizens have, are, or will be doing time. AA is available in prisons, so is a tremendous amount of reading material. Books will keep you from going insane. Exercise CONSTANTLY, even starting before you go in. > 2: How the fuck do you stop people pushing you around?? Kick their asses! > 3. There are a lot of us here who have seen death at the hands of alcohol, myself included. This Doesn't give us the right to make arsy comments like, "Fuck off and use your head for something other than a hat rack" Did you really think a comment like that would help? > > I do not pull punches to coddle those who are spouting stupidity.
