I am doing the same thing too. I have 2 2/3 years now, and am loving it. And I also quit tobacco at the same time. What is it that the Big Book says on page 58 or 59? "Half measures availed us nothing." Quitting drinking, but not quitting smoking, to recover and get healthy, seems like only half doing it. So I recommend, really get healthy, by quitting both. And while no one here is copping to being irritated by your statements right now, I've received plenty of accusations that either I wasn't really an alcoholic (my ex-wife, friends, relatives, and doctor disagree), or I'm not really sober. (Oh yes I am.) Too bad you didn't give up preaching falacious claims on newsgroups when you gave up booze and cigarettes. - Cartman "Agent_Orange" <agent_orange@linuxmail.org> wrote in message news:8e728989.0307191649.4608d4fe@posting.google.c om... > "catsruleok" <catsruleok@bigfoot.com> wrote in message news:<bf9vmu$l5e$1@newsg2.svr.pol.co.uk>... > > I apologise: > > > > - for having managed to stay off booze for the past few weeks without having attended AA meetings; > > > > - for the fact that my success appears to greatly irritate you, and finally > > > > - for deciding to stick around and therefore to continue to further irritate you. > > > > Now, I'm thanking you for your robust questioning of and comments on things I have said.
