I hate to break it to you but I'm an alcoholic and I can guarantee you that
Bobby L is 100 % right and he's being civil about it. You are on your way to
living in a movie of the week. There is a tsunami coming your way. RUN !!!!!

You MUST accept that there is little that YOU can do to help him. He, as has
been noted by others here, has to Want help himself. I didn't WANT help
until my wife left me. That woke me up and triggered the desire to seek
help. I got that help via a treatment center and Alcoholics Anonymous that
taught me that I had to work at sobriety. I worked at it and it worked just
fine for 14 years.

Oh yes, my wife and I are happier today than ever.
