Good to be sober

Hi all
Thought I would just report that the sober life is real good! A few good
things have happened to us this past few weeks. Things that would not have
happened had we kept on drinking 15 years ago. (We, wife and myself, would
have been dead) I find it more and more difficult not to cry when good
things happen to me despite me. The anonymity part helps a bit because if
one does not talk about it then it is not so bad.
Thank you for having been there, being here and still going to be here for
me.
I am grateful
Mias
15 years clean and sober and enjoying every second of it!

Re: Good to be sober

Hi Craig
My wife is six months behind me and I discovered very early in our
relationship that we can have informal meetings and discuss problems but for
sanity sake it is far far far far better to have external sponsors. I would
say do not even think of going down that road.
We give each other a lot of courage and hope and support though and I would
not change my alcoholic wife for anything!
We also try to do a meeting every Monday night. Keeps one firmly grounded.
Kind regards
Mias

Re: Good to be sober

Hi Scott
We were drinking separately (She has never seen me drunk, thank God!) I
finished on about two bottles of Brandy or Whisky or Vodka or Cane a day and
she was building up to one when the carpet got pulled out. Funny thing was
that the day that I decided to inform her that I am coming to be an integral
part of her life we had just both finished giving all our stuff away save
our cars and clothes. It was a bit like somebody up there was saying OK, you
two can start nice and fresh)
We had a bit of a difference of opinion after two years and then we spent a
year apart and since then we have 'grown up". I believe it is a bit odd two
have two sober alcoholics married for a period. God is good to us.
Kind regards
Mias
