Dubya Falls Off the Wagon

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/bush/bush.html

If George W. Bush ends up in the White House, The Smoking Gun would like
to be the first web outfit to formally offer Dubya an artifact for his
future presidential library. The Republican's wacky performance in this
1992 wedding video excerpt--shot years after Bush went cold turkey in
July 1986--needs to be preserved for future generations.

The video was shot at the August 29, 1992 wedding of Jamie Weiss, the
daughter of Dubya's close friends Mike and Nancy Weiss. Mike, a Lubbock,
Texas lawyer and CPA, was Bush's campaign chairman during his first
political race (an unsuccessful 1978 congressional bid) and was one of
the Texas governor's earliest political appointments. Nancy, also a Bush
appointee, had a prime speaking slot on the final night of the
Republican convention. She told the crowd, "I wish you could see how he
reaches out to people, teasing those who can take it and protecting
those who can't."

Indeed, what a teaser!

When cameraman T. Patrick Murray filmed Bush during the wedding
reception at a Lubbock country club, the future governor took some
rambling--and we presume good-natured--swipes at the newlyweds, the
bride's parents, and her brother Kelly (Bush was being quizzed by a
member of the bridal party). We love the part where teetotaler George
actually disses two of the Weisses for supposedly not drinking or
smoking. And as for those weird Don King-like "only in America"
cracks--not to mention what's in that glass--your guess is as good as
TSG's.

The key points are both that Bush does not just drink, he gets
plastered, and that he CLAIMS he took his last drink in 1986 but was
still drinking in 1992. If he is anything like a typical lying
alcoholic he STILL drinking today in Crawford getting so shitfaced he
can't tell the nuclear button from the doorbell.

I can't believe you would trust an ADMITTED alcoholic with your lives
that way.

That's right. Bush was selected president. The inventory being taken
since---in just lives: 9/11, Tora Bora, Iraq, etc ---while OBL remains
at large.

Right, right, Jesus Jr. "If your slate is clean, blah, blah, blah..."
Bush is the president of the most powerful country in the world...not
your damned neighbor. You're neighbor can get hammered, slide behind
the wheel of his car and kill a few people. Not a pretty picture, but
Bush can get pie-eyed and blow up the whole fucking world! Then there
won't be any goddam slates, clean or otherwise.

If you're comfortable with an alcoholic in the White House, maybe you
should be checkin' your own inventory, "bud"...for a brain. Bush says
he went cold turkey in '86. Obviously he has fallen off the wagon at
LEAST once, thus, he's at least certainly in denial, a classic
alcoholic symptom. If you think these are isolated incidents, I'll
wager their are more episodes of his binge drinking that his
"advisors" (read: Bush = meal ticket) have covered up over the years.
Thank god there are fail safes that *should* prevent Bush from blowing
us to kingdom come...provided they all don't get shitfaced together.

I don't drink and never have. It is not as though I am gossiping
about my next door neighbour. I am trying to protect the world from
nuclear war.

If Bush is too shitfaced to deal with a nuclear emergency, we could
ALL end up dead. It is like demanding a drunk not drive.
